Well I finally got 3dsmax today. However, I'd like to put one of my incomplete Gmax models into 3dsmax (meaning I want to open and work on it in 3dsmax).

Do any of you guys know how I can do this?

Thanks,

Apple

Not easy because discreet discontinued GMax and you must find the files.

GMax had game packs, like Tempest for Quake 3, with it installed you can export as 3ds and obj, both formats can be imported into 3d max. But I was searching and I was not able to find Tempest Game Pack.

I was browsing and I found this other option, but I never tested this by myself, so you must experiment with it Doom3world • View topic - Another MD5 Exporter for MAX/gmax

Another option is to use the BF1942 exporter to .sm files. Then simply import it into 3ds max again. Depending on your models, it might not work out as easily though.

EDIT: Wait, I can't remember, were the Gmax tools for BF1942 or BF2?

True, that's an elegant system, yeah, it worked for Gmax too

Man, nice job bro! Looks great. Also I may as well just start over with my model. I wasn't that far with it so starting over isn't a big deal... I guess.
