Hi guys! well there was a time I was hoping someone to make other WWII theater for great RO game (great because of realism not east front IMO). And suddenly i stomped onto 2 nice looking mods. One is going to start with Operation Overlord and include all later battles. Darkest Hour Modification I was interested in their statement:

We will focus predominantly on realism and don't believe in balancing maps when it bears too heavily on realism. Also political correctness will not effect our portrayal of realism, so we'll have all the correct insignia and uniforms for those military buffs out there. This will not be just another World War Two game. We are going to try some new things that everyone else was probably too scared to try and we'll see how we get on, more on those things later. ...so i registered and asked about POLAND? and they answered positive :) (to my happiness)

little teaser/trailer YouTube - Darkest hour mod

Another mod is about North Africa and Italian Campaign. Aussie fellows:D go to their site and see their Aussie player models :) Mare Nostrum

Look promising, but there is still the problem of release....Darkest Hour seems to have been in existence for 2+ years.

So has fh, whats your point? And the mod was announced in October of 2006, so I don't know where you got 2+ years from.

RO is an excellent game, and the engine would undoubtedly lend itself to further modding. Not holding my breath, however.

I'm just saying, i've stopped getting excited about mods because it's very rare that they have a release date. I mean look at BF2, the last big mod to come out with a first release was Dcon and that was a good 6 month ago.

I love tank combat in RO, but the infantry combat is lacking imo...It feels to sluggish for lack of a better description. Like everything is slightly in slow-mo. And the sway when walking is weird. It feels very unnatural, which kills immersion for me. So i mostly just play the tank combat servers when i play some RO. But these mods sound interesting :D

After Darkest Hour is released and I see it has a solid playerbase, I'll consider buying RO. That is, if there already won't be a good ww2 mod for BF2 ;)
