Palin made herself famous. Before the campaigns I doubt if anyone except from the people in Alaska had ever heard from her. Now the world knows her. Thats sure going to be useful in 2012.
I agree with invictus, this election campaign has done a lot for her publicity, and will, I think, ensure her a long and arguably successful career in politics.

The republicans will be meeting soon to set a course for the future. She will definitely be on the agenda. I think it would be a mistake to back her. Her only real appeal is to the far right. While that makes for exciting rallies, it is not really useful. The far right will always vote republican. She is unappealing to moderate voters, and those are the ones you need to win elections. One of the few things GWB did successfully was to appeal to the far right, while at the same time, not scaring off the moderate voters. They need someone who can repeat that success. I don't think Palin can.
