Yup Lighting and I went to the Saumur carrousel in the late weekend of July 17!

56 K warning, here comes part one of my trip to Saumur. Since we made 940 photos I can only show you a small fraction though. For the complete thing: http://files.filefront.com/Saumur2006rar/;5287546;;/fileinfo.html Part 1 (Day 1): Lightning and I visiting the carrousel on Sunday. We walked around, and us stupid tourist ofcourse didn't knew that the area with the tanks was not open to the public (we walked around the terrain, found an opening for vehicles to enter). Poke poke:

We had a lot of fun on the first day, it was cool to see a tiger 2 driving two meters from you and the show was cool though (most was calvery though). The next day we would go to the museum and not just to look at tanks... :naughty: Stay tuned! Wait untill you see me in the museum mannin a lot lot more things. :naughty: (For sneak peak see my gallery > Low Res pics).

I really should buy an uniform though (for every country :p), it would rock even more to pose in an uniform. THat surely would make the ladies (and myself) drool. Perhaps I might buy a German private uniform of the heer but those reenactment outfits aren't cheap so wether it's worth the money? ....

Spiffy pics. I wonder whether the people who take these pictures (including Taranov) wouldn't consider donating them to Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Commons?

Großadmiral Dönitz What is this horrible thing? hehe [spoiler] 100_1775.JPG

That "horrible thing" is a Renault UE tankette, used by both the French and Belgian armies in may 1940 to provide mobile mg support. Nice pics, and btw, you pity the pavement for having a tank drive over it, but with such temperatures, even a bike would leave a 2 inch deep imprint :D

Great stuff! It's easy for me to forget how damn big the armor is, and what guts it took for anyone to hold their ground as it approached. I can hardly imagine staying in a hole as armor rolled over you.

P.S.: I'm old, so I guess I'll never understand why folks don't either leave the pants long or just cut them off for real shorts. Wait, I know! An excuse to drink more beer to cool down! ;)
