So whats it feel like to not be allowed to vote ladies :). All the Governments of Europe have passed laws to allow for a self amending treaty so we dont get to vote on Europe anymore :). That is except for Ireland where we have to have a vote :)

I say no for 3 reasons:

1. We should elect governments for a reason, so they respect our wishes, and accept our decisions. Meaning they should appoint people on to the EU parliament according to what the people want from the EU/government.

2. If we vote on the EU seperately, we might end up with representatives who get elected by a minority. Come on, lets be realistic here. In most EU countries, less than 60% even go to vote. thats 6/10 of the population decide, and the rest follow.

3. The EU parliament is supposed to represent the government/the country. Not the people within the country. They should be united for the benefit of the country, not some segments of society.

And this is what I think of the EU: :bananal:

Yes, it's rape all over again, after a lovely date with a glass filled with drugs.

1. The EU ruins local agriculture. Yeah, give subsidies for farmers...at the same time as force governments to let in massive supermarkets and foreign produce. That works just fine...

2. Byrocracy all over. It takes ages for anything to get through, and most of the time the representatives do some work...while everyone ignores them. Let's take the case of Hungary here. We have a government, who is clearly NOT supported. Our PM lied, the coalition parties are swamped in shady money and businesses. We can't do anything about them, because of our damned democracy. On top of !THAT! the EU supports this man. No boycotts, nothing. Only because he promises free trade, and privatising everything in the country to foreign enterprises. The riots were brutally beaten down, and what does the EU do? NOTHING. EU does not represent people, it represents corporations that can :moon:

3. People's rights. WHY would they even think about getting Turkey on. No offense to any Turkish people here, but that country is not by any means up to modern standards. And then we come to issues like minorities. I am a minority in Finland right now, and I accept it willingly, because I moved here. However places like Transylvania and south of Hungary were always populated by Hungarians (currently 1,431,807)...only to be carved up in 1914. The large minorities exist still, and they aren't treated nicely. Everyone is talking about Kosovo now...do you need a war in order for a minority to get it's rightful territory back? We are talking about 1.4 million people here EU boys, and it doesn't make me laugh.

Oh, and let's take one of the founder nations. Le France! Preach peace, and understanding, and democracy and how other nations should take on immigrants and refugees, and how they should respect human rights....whilst baning scarfs in schools. I can see their reasoning, but then don't tell others to do otherwise when they have good reasons.

Turkey isn't even in Europe (for the most part anyway).

But the poll is wrong, you cannot vote no, or you'd have some sort of paradox. :p

Ok, since I'm not European, forgive me. But is this asking whether or not you'd vote to allow states into the EU?

This is the issue Moose. YouTube - The European Union - the New Soviet Union? YouTube - The Rise of the European Superstate America has a lot to fear from a European Superstate. With the new Rapid Reaction Force been built Europe will have its first army.

A very important part (not only in the geographical sense) of Turkey is inside europe, Turkey is the natural bridge of the western and islamic worlds and all this right wing bashing of Turkey actually in european societies is a dangerous mistake, we are fueling the extremism hurting the feelings of people you don't understand.

If Turkey can be in the NATO and not in EU and we gladly accept Serbia but not Turkey, well, just let me laugh

Did this just happen? Is it getting passed...? I mean I don't really care. I think if they want to unite, they should be able too, although the fear of another soviet type bloc is very real.
