I got this link from someone on the Morrowind forums.. It's a GNU-esque project to make better drivers for Audigy and SBLive cards, as well as some other Creative chipsets.

I downloaded the drivers and followed some odd setup instructions and the sound quality was DRASTICALLY increased for MP3 playback. No difference in game preformance yet, though that is one of the goals of the organization. I'd give them a try if you're into custom drivers. Read some of the FAQs and see all the stuff you can do with them.

Yeah I know. I've had nothing but good experiences with them though. I'm one of those tweak-fanatics, always looking for a softmod to squeeze a few FPS out of my machine.

Oh no, I've tried those with my old Soundblaster 1024 and had problems with my rear speakers iirc.

Just wanted to warn you... I tried these again and while they improved mp3 playback or so it seems, the sounds in BF was awful.
