Specter switches jerseys. Specter says he's switching from GOP to Democrats It's the smart move for him personally. He has sold at the market high because he gives Obama a good shot at being filibuster-proof (although not a certainty because the Blue Dogs are a wild card), and he will have negotiated a sweet deal. IIRC he had a little trouble last election. His assessment is obviosly that he'll run a better chance being re-elected as a Dem, although he is getting up there in years.

This will be interesting.

He was apparently being creamed in the republican primaries, so finally made the switch to match his ideology with his party.

Whatever, he was dead weight. Glad to see we can now oust him from his seat :P

You might very well think that

I read about it too, he figured he could get reelected by switching the ticket, not so much about ideology change, just wants to stay in the game.

Yep, but most people will see past it, as the democrats will just see him as a republican, and the republicans will see him as the democrat that he really is. He's gonna be butchered.

I thought Meadow's dry wit was on display again. My bet is he knows the difference, thus the joke.

Specter was always a wildcard anyway. I will be really interested in seeing what happens here. I ve always wondered what took him so long to switch. I wonder if the GOP can finally get their hands on Joe Lieberman. But here in PA, it's a democrat playground. I think he was always voted in on his history, Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas, Warren Commision and the single bullet. He was pretty high profile for this state. And I think this move will actually work. Not bad. However, he's been battling Hodgkins's disease.

Like Jon Stuart said tonight, and it was good. "I respect the man, oh rather, I just get it, He likes his job" That's how I feel too haha, it's like alright dude, pretty straight forward, want your job, so you switched haha.
