this is a shocking news that say something happened in Macau SAR of China

A senior Macau official has confirmed that the bullet that struck a passer-by during yesterday's Labour Day protest, was of the type used by the police. The statement came after the government insisted that it handled the protest properly. However, the demonstrators accused the police of using excessive force. A spokesman for the Macau police said they had examined the metal object removed from the victim's chest, and confirmed it was a bullet from a point 38 revolver, which is used by the force. A policeman fired five warning shots during the scuffle. The police said they could not rule out the possibility that the victim was struck by one of the five shots. The spokesman said an investigation was underway and he confirmed that there was no other shooting in Macau at the time. The man is recovering in hospital.

the man is shot by a pistol 300 meters away when the police fire his pistol to the sky it's more surprising that the man is riding a motor cycle, that is a pistol sniping on a moving object 300 meters away firing at the sky, amazing...

Ring saves pregnant woman 02/05/2007 08:12 - (SA)

Rio de Janeiro - The wedding ring of a pregnant woman saved her life when it deflected a bullet that would have hit her in the head during a robbery in Brazil, media reports said, citing police. The woman, 32, was working in a pharmacy on Thursday in Monte Alegre in the north-eastern state of Sergipe when an armed man shot her at close range, the reports said on Tuesday. She instinctively raised her hands to protect her face and head and fainted. Police said an investigation later found that the bullet had bounced off her wedding band and saved her life. Another shot grazed the woman, causing minor injuries, police added. Two customers were not as lucky. The 17- and 11-year-old girls were shot and killed. The pregnant woman was taken to hospital where doctors said she and her baby, who is due to be born in a month, were in good health. After the funerals of the girls who were killed in the robbery, residents of Monte Alegre protested against Brazil's rising crime rate, which has caused outrage and fear across most of the country. - Sapa-dpa

I wouldn't call it sniping (now that would be one hell of a stunt though, quickly followed by a prosecutation for attempted murder =P ) but it's interesting though. I always wonder why you don't hear much about injuries or death during any actions where they fire guns in the air (police warnings, funerals, angry mob, ... ) .

There are over 1 billion people in China, you are bound to hit someone even if you shoot completely off in the air.

Iirc, someone was killed in Florida about 2 years ago by a similar accident. I think the distance was much greater than 300m, though.

I note the policeman "fired five warning shots". Hell, I'm just glad he didn't actually have a target...he might still be shooting.

As for the randomness of the injury, well, what goes up, no? For many years Detroit had a tradition of "Devil's Night", which, IIRC, was observed the night before Halloween. The chief way of celebrating Devil's Night was to go outside and shoot firearms up in the arm, Saddam style. Every year someone was wounded or killed, and every year the celebrants professed shock and surprise that their fun was actually dangerous. Long learning curve there.

Why not? 45 degree angle, any bullet will go a pretty long way (I assume the dude was shooting in the air.)

It's possible. Hell, the Pakastani's manage to kill a few people every year with em during a fucking kite festival. And this China, it's kind like throwing a rock at an open air market in India, yer gonna hit someone

Mythbusters said u can't kill somebody if u fire straight into the air, but since nobody can do a perfect 90, it's still a projectile and will hurt/kill you.
