I've been keeping an eye on 1944 DDay and the list of promises keep growing:D. If they can deliver, I don't think I'll be seeing the sun for a looong time. http://www.1944game.com/

That list of promises being their forum FAQ which is pretty huge.

Moving them all around the battlefield and adapting their orders, objectives and tasks to an every evolving battlefield.

What kind of monster system will it take to play that? Sounds like it gives you a choice of first-person shooter and a strategy/tactics game. I loved the old Panzer General 2, and wished I could break the size of the units being controlled down from regiment/division to squad/platoon or platoon/company. Is this sort of like a Ghost Recon where you shoot but control a squad?

:dropsjaw: WOW! I would love to own that! Is it a mod though, if so, for which game? Too bad it's not going to be free though :( , at least not subscription based. Looks like FH2 has some competition :naughty:

What monster system, who knows, who cares!?!?! That is awesome!

It's a full on game so FH shouldn't be anymore threatened than any other mod will be. On that note, it also will be modable.(128 Player + 200,000 AI Character battling FH3 devs?):D:D:D:D:D:D:D

This thing just has an aura of extreme lag surrounding it Every building can be entered, multiplayer will be 128-256 players, my god, its awesome but you will need an amazing PC.

I believe Pentagon super computers will be hosting the online games.

From what I understand, you can give limited orders to the AI. Which suppsoedly jugdes you by your actions. So acting like a suicidal lunatic may make the AI wary of orders you give, ect.

I just scanned most of the FAQ: wow. It's obvious the focus of the game is the AI, which seems frighteningly powerful. They claim the AI "learns" about the player as a round progresses. Based on developer comments, the AI may be an invention of the main guy.

They are going for reality as to units involved and playable (they claim you can choose one of 200,000 units, which are squad-sized). Therea re an incredible amuner of "classes" such as French Resistance, even a priest. As to variety of vehicles, look at their German vehicles for example: Pz.Kpfw I Ausf. B Pz.Kpfw II Ausf. C Pz.Kpfw II Ausf. F Pz.Kpfw II Ausf. L - Leopard Pz.Kpfw II Ausf. L - Lynx Pz.Kpfw 38(t) Ausf. D Pz.Kpfw 38(t) Ausf. G Pz.Kpfw III Ausf. E Pz.Kpfw III Ausf. H Pz.Kpfw III Ausf. J Pz.Kpfw III Ausf. L Pz.Kpfw III Ausf. M Pz.Kpfw III Ausf. N Pz.Kpfw III - Flammpanzer III Pz.Kpfw IV Ausf. D Pz.Kpfw IV Ausf. F (F1, F2) Pz.Kpfw IV Ausf. G Pz.Kpfw IV Ausf. H Pz.Kpfw IV Ausf. J Pz.Kpfw V Ausf. D - Panther Pz.Kpfw V Ausf. G - Panther Pz.Kpfw VI Ausf. E -Tiger Pz.Kpfw VI Ausf. B - Tiger II Pz.Kpfw MAUS Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer Jagdpanther SdKfz173 StuG III SdKfz 142/2 StuG III Ausf G SdKfz 142/1 Ferdinand "Elephant" Sd Kfz 184 Panther II PzKw 5 Ausf F Jagdtiger SdKfz 186 Based on this list, I can't say much about their historical accuracy though: the MAUS !?

It appears the graphics may take a back seat, and we should expect a moderate poly count.

The planned physics are impressive and complex. Some debris/hulks/bodies will remain visible. Gameplay sounds a little miore complicated than usual. For example, you can't just throw your gun up and put your iron sights on the target, you also have to align you rear and front sights. Your breathing affects accuracy, and you can hold your breath.

You eat and sleep. You get dirty, scarred, burned. There will be dismemberments, and, as they said in the FAQ, "don't worry - you won't be able to go up to a head and carve it up, but if a head is hit, it will look like it's been hit." Stamina, morale, fear, fitness - these are all factored in, and some units are more fit than others, etc.

They're going to do an early release which I assume is a Beta (but might be an Alpha!) to help with development. They will welcome mods. They plan no expansion packs.

It seems a huge task, and I don't think they're close to a release. As of April 2006 when they dithe FAQ, many major decisions had not been made. They don't have a price set. I wouldn't look for it until 2007, but it should be very, very interesting if it gets off the ground at all.

BTW, this game sounds so different that I can't see how it could in any way drain support from FH. Folks may play both, but I can't see an FHer abandoning the True Faith for 1944 D-Day.

Sure I wish my best for this mod and hope it will be released some day or another...

But if I am completely honest, I doubt they can deliver all this, or then it will take insanely long.

Renders look good tho and everything sounds great. But we will see.
