I just saw this movie, and found it a real disappointment(compared to my big expectations!). Some nice action footage, but there wasn't a real line in the movie, also no real line in the battle scene's(I really missed that!). Like all of a sudden they captured the whole Island  . Too much debating also, about the ''who put the real flag up'' issue. I sensed another Background Rifle Dude plot! Well I guess....I like the FH Iwo more, missed so much,.....sneaky snipers,no Jap AA,no OHKA's :uhm: ,no(embedded) Jap tanks ,US Ships firing no Rockets . I was much more impressed by this movie; http://forums.filefront.com/showthread.php?t=269133

I think the movie suffered from wrongexpectationitis. People expected it to be SPR2: JAP ATTACK! Thankfully, it was a whole different animal. Personally, I prefered the scenes back home to the battle scenes. Even though the dialogue was littered with cliches (Paul Haggis, I loved you so...), I thought the story was decent enough.

Good, differentiated review there, madcat0. You've obviously taken great lessons from The Deer Hunter, Apocalypse Now, Platoon, The Big Red One and other pieces of knee-jerk USA! USA! propaganda.

So, when did you see this movie? You have obviously seen it, right?

Flags of Fathers is definently NOT patriotic, I don't understand how people are getting that impression, guess it's just bad advertising (if anything people hate the movie because it isn't all America, f*ck yeah!)

If you want more battle scenes you're probably going to want to see the second film, Letters from Iwo Jima (the Japanese side of the story). Story line is more linear, so it'll be easier to follow for you guys with short attention spans :P, and mainly takes place on the island. And supposedly Letters is the FAR superior of the two movies
