What the hell? So?! Would you like to go into battle, when it finishes, barely escape with your life, and receive no award or recognition that you did it?

If you did something very brave or achieved something very hard (you don't have to win a battle you can achiev something like preventing the enemy from advanching etc.) people should deserve a medal. You don't have to win a battle to get a medal.
