Anyway, I thought it was intentional that you don't hear the arty that nailed you -- I think it's actually kind of cool (except if you're in the situation of being totally brutally utterly inescapably raped by it, such as by mortars on Pegasus, etc.)
The problem is when you live through an arty strike without hearing what hit you. Case in point; i was playing Stashuv Area or whatever its called with a friend of mine on the Wolf server a couple of days ago. We had been killed by 105 rounds earlier (silent and deadly, no impact explosion), and then later on we were hit and lost most of our health. We deduced that we were hit from the invisible arty once again (we were spread out about 15 ingame feet). If we hadnt been killed before by the artillery we would have thought it was some sort of bug, ie. randomly losing health.
Or something else was killing you, causing you to look around for the source.

That could have been the case Gen. but its highly unlikely that another source of fire could damage both myself and my friend's health at the exact same time in two different yet close places. We both exclaimed over Ventrilo when we had been hit.
