I'm sure you all heard about the V1 and V2 rockets, but a week ago I spoke with an old man who worked for the "Arbeitsdienst" in WWII, he told me that he helped building launchsites for V4-rockets near Warsaw. I looked in the internet but didn't find anything about it. Does anyone of you know something about it? The launch-sites were subterrean and about 60 meters high/deep.

V3 were supposedly long tube guns build into a mountain side (bit like the ones Saddam was tinkering with)... They were ment for bombarding London. They weren't conpleted. A prototype (?) is said to have been used against the allies on the western front in early 45'.

V4 - Multistage rocket. From different sources I have read about 2 different rockets. One solid fuel... supposedly there was a test firing implying the death of a cow? The other was a liquid fuel intercontinental rocket. never tested.

The 'Amerika Bomber' was a plane called the Me 264, which was a four-engined long-range plane. Had some similarity to the B-29. Just one plane, the Me 264V1, was completed and it was later destroyed during a bombing raid.

However, AFAIK, the only German plane that reached the American East coast was the Ju390 during a test flight.

Me264 (left), Ju390 (right) - probably two planes that will never show up in FH... :(

GocadThe Me264 was called the Amerika Bomber. http://www.pilotfriend.com/century-of-flight/Aviation%20history/new_aircraft_2/Me.264.jpg

I know... I was merely pointing out that he confused one with the other... NY = Amerika Bomber... London = V3 [V3 being a tunnel based gun which fires a rocket progressively through explosion tunnels]

Btw, I have never heard of a V4 before, and if you can't find anything about it on THE INTERNET, well then it doesn't exist. ;)
