Spoilers May Be Contained In This Post, Depending on what you call a spoiler.

I bought it a while ago, a week or so after it was released and just now had the time to start playing it. I finished it last weekend, and, I gotta say, I was really impressed.

It was made much better by the fact that me and my father have an 8800 GT in the computer now, which allows me to get about 50 FPS with everything on high except for shaders, which I turn down to medium.

YouTube - Crysis on Core 2 Quad, GeForce 9800 GX2 SLI on FULL DETAIL YouTube - Crysis on GeForce 9800 GX2 1600x1200, 4xAA, FULL detail

:) The third one is the best.

Not only were the graphics FIRST RATE, but the gameplay was way fun, and a lot of features I'd like to think were innovative.

My personal thoughts are that it started out slow... kind of introducing the player to the concepts of the gameplay throughout the whole damned first and second levels, and then it turned into a non-stop action sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat thing (which I thought was more fun :P). There were some complaints about the AI but I found no problems with the AI when I played through it. They were generally smart, and worked together... and were especially tricky in looking for you after you cloaked and hid somewhere. They did some stupid stuff, like running away from you into a building where you could just walk in and own them, but they only do stuff like that when they aren't hunting in packs. I hated the cliff-hanger at the end, and my FAVORITE 20 seconds of the game, was when you get to kill General Kyong, and I didn't see the weapons on the ground in the room, so I just turned on maximum strength first thing, and ran up to him and didn't stop hitting him in the face until he was dead. Also, I didn't figure out that you could just take down the Korean Nanosuit soldiers with just a tactical dart and a bunch of shotgun shells to the face until I got to the one mission where you see them with the minigun. I also learned that helicopters can realistically and easily be taken down with 2 well placed shots do the hind rotor, or a couple of incendiary/regular bullets. Machine guns are more fun, and so are rockets, but it's a waste of ammo and it's dangerous.

The environments were well done, and had very high standards. There wasn't one moment in playing that game that I remembered I was sitting alone in my room at 2 in the morning pretending to be a futuristic Spec Ops soldier (bad thing or good thing?)

Anyway, please discuss. Some people hated the game in reviews I've read, and some people drooled over it like me. I thought it was really refreshing, especially after CoD4 made millions of dollars with the same linear gameplay they've served up since 2001.

Also in an interview with a lead designer I read, he said it was the most pirated PC game to be recently released, which was prompting them to second-guess making the sequels specifically for the PC and releasing console ports, and were considering designing console versions primarily and releasing a PC sequel later :/

It's supposed to be a trilogy, apparently. I hope it doesn't get turned into what Halo became. I despise Halo and all of its 9 year old fanboys

PS: Are there really sharks that you can find that will attack you if you swim around in deep enough waters?

EDIT: Hahaha holy damn! YouTube - Crysis Scary Shark!!! BEST GAME EVER

Oh and sorry for the long post :). I've never blabbed about a game like this before... but I can't help, the gameplay was very deep!

I really enjoyed Crysis... despite the fact that the thing chugged like crazy on my medium-high PC... even with my 8800 GTS in my case. It just chugged and chugged. I tried optimizing, screwing with the .ini file (which helped a bit) but it still has completely owned my computer. The gameplay was fun and the cinematic moments were the greatest I've ever seen in a game.

That all said, I was very disappointed with the story... it left me thinking, "That's it???!!!" I actually put my fingers back into "play position" (WSAD) once the helicopter flew off, expected the next mission to start, but alas, the game was over. It was way too short for me, especially considering that the story was just getting good!

Overall, a great game, and an even bigger technological achievement. Unfortunately 90% of PC users couldn't play the damn game, which really cut into their sales. Here's hoping Crytek continues to innovate and doesn't go the way of Epic and sell their souls to consoles.

maybe it's just me, but i found it to be a poor rip-off of Far Cry. And the whole "super duper human suit" that gives you +1000 strength and taking like half a magazine to kill one enemy is a little ridiculous. Physics are amazing, detail and lighting are off the charts. Gameplay is lacking, and storyline blows. Just my 2 cents.

IMHO most of today's game's are done for "Eye candy".Nothing special in them, except graphics.Mostly storyline doesn't exist.Sure...there are "pearl's" like, lets say- Half-Life 2/Episode ONE and TWO but that's all.Modern FPS games are at least "SHORT"(one, two days of playing-it shouldn't be that way:()...where are those times when you spent days in front of cpu. killing Nazi Zombies and Shiat,in the same time being fascinated by the plot.....modern FPS game's:moon:.

Oh and by the way...I didn't played "Crysis"(nor did I ever wanted to). Those super graphic games scares me off, after playing Far Cry I didn't touched anything that is based only on graphical fireworks.

Disregard that-my computer sucks.

Most of the game to me was Eye Candy too I played the game through, and the story really wasnt all that good, and the gameplay was confusing to me. Plus they claimed the AI was the BEST EVER, and it really wasnt, they were still really stupid sometimes. And there were things that ruined the experience, physics glitches and things like that. 8 out of 10 :P

Only nice graphic and that sandbox effect. It didn't take my hart by an inch.

I liked Crysis a lot. I enjoyed the "Predator" feeling I could get out of it, but when the game turned into TUROK game, I wasnt that overjoying. I liked killing charlies more than the aliens.
