Why was the continent i live on (north america) named after Amerigo Vespuchi? And why not "Vespuchiland"? And why did they change it to a femme name?

As I recall, Amerigus had better press. Columbus was sort of on the "outs" with the royal sponsors at that time, and Vespucchi wrote glowingly of his own exploits. There was some controversy to the effect that he may have never actually visited the New World.

LOL, no, this is not the reason, Colon always defended the new world was Asia (Japan or Cipango, the caribean islands, and China, the continent), Americo Vespuccio took part in an expedition to South America and he defended it was a new continent

'[130pz.Kading']And why did they change it to a femme name?

In Latin the world for country, patria -ae, is feminine. This is also why ships are reffered to as "she" because once again the word for boat in Latin, navis -is, is feminine.
