ok. so ive hada minor spyware problem for a while...ive kept it under control and it hasnt affected anything at all until now.

everytime i login windows gives me a message saying "critical windows files have been replaced by unsolicited ones, insert windows 2000 pro disc"

(well...not word for word..)

anyway..i place my Win2kpro disc in but it just starts up normally...there is no 'repair' or 'replace bad files' option....i dont know what to do...does anyone know of any programs that check ur windows files to detect the bad ones and tell me what they are...so i can manually replace them

:uhm:

**hoping not to have to reformat** :bawl:

Well.. you will not be able to repair the files while windows is running, you will have to boot the computer from the cd. You say the computer starts normally? Ill check for myself.. Edit: allright this is what you need to do, i run win2k myself.. When your computer boots, keep pressing F11 untill the computer notifies that it will go to the "boot options". When it does a list should pop up where the different hardware devices are listed, the computer will check these in order for bootable media, the floppy drive, hard drive, and in my case the cd drive. Make sure your cd drive is in there as well because if its not it will ignore any bootable cd you put in there. try putting it in as first priority if it doesnt work initially. Asuming it now starts up from the windows cd, there will be three options initially, one of those will be "Repair". Good luck.
