Hmmm... a bunch of us are getting together after work tonight for this. I highly doubt I'll actually buy it, though. Doom3's never been able to appeal to me like HL2 has, and I'm cheap to begin with. Although, if the multiplayer is good...

I've only screwed with Single Player so far, I think i'm near the end of tha game. It does get a bit repetitive until you get to *SPOILER* level, but then it kicks up again. Its a lot like halflife. The sheer amount of detail that went into the levels and the game are what makes it great. Very few empty corridors. Everywhere is boxes, debris, fallen sparking wires, blood, blood and body parts, demon body parts, machinery, treacherous catwalks, etc.

Me and my buddy traded off and played for around 6 hours yesterday :|

It is addictive. The gameplay isn't revolutionary or anything, but it is fun.

Riles, post your system specs and I'll tell you if its old or not.

Windows 2000 Professional 1.2 ghz AMD Atholon 512 mb DDR RAM GeForce 4 FX5200

I have absolutely no problems with my computer, I don't believe in upgrading unless you have to. Most people consider it an old computer, but I see it as just average, but the games I play don't really need a "good" computer. :)

I've got:

AMD AthXP 2500+ Asus A7V333 mobo 1GB PC2700 RAM NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4400

I can actually play it on 1280X1024, but it's a 'little' slow, never looked at the FPS tho. I'll probably bump it down to 800X600 to speed it up a little.

Very, very cool game so far tho.

I keep hearing it is 2.2 gigabytes large. Is that while it is compressed on the CDs, or after it is installed on your harddrive?

Riles, your system might run it, but it will definately be slow. I just installed it on my friend's comp, a 2200+ w/ Geforce 3 ti card and 512 Ram, and it barely ran. The FX5200 is just an overclocked MX series card, which does not have spectacular DX9 support. The plus side, is that Nvidia cards run Doom3 about 30% faster then ATI cards.

The 1.2ghz processor is what will be the bottleneck there.

Aequitas how far are ya? :)

Try the timedemo to get an average fps your game is running on. Open the console with AltGr-ยง combination and type "timedemo demo1" without the ".
