Fun fact jummy, far as I know, that is exactly what Maddox is trying to do with Storm of war :)

Need to try IL2 on my new pc, seriously intense experience online with full or near full real settings.

Only problem would be a bit of a sore neck the next day from keeping my head on a swivel with track IR.

BoBII was in quite a sorry state when it was released but it's been massively updated since then. I couldn't really get into it since I was playing IL2 a lot at the time and was just more comfortable with IL2s flight model and had my controls set up just right.

@ jumjum: MiG Alley is probably the best flight sim depicting the Korean War. I especially liked the ground attack missions. But you will get problems running it stable. Even 4 years ago when I played it regularly, it was a pain to install the game and I got quite a few desktop crashes. If you like a current flight sim with a difficulty between arcade shooters and il-2 you should check out the games from Third Wire. They are mainly jet sims, but there is also a WW1 sim and mods for WW2 and the Korea War.

Theres a Korean War flight sim being made with the Storm of War engine, not sure if they plan to release it next to Battle of Britain or sometime after.

Personally I`m looking to try out a WWI flight sim, They had made a mod for CFS3 but I can`t get my hands on it. Think we can have a few ideas on those too? I would love to try that Kind of dogfighting.

The WWI mod for CFS3 is "Over Flanders Fields":

index

I had a brief look at it; the aircraft models and flight models seemed excellent. Unfortunately, I developed a shoulder problem and couldn't use my joystick for a while. No idea if anyone is actually playing the thing.

The BoB game I mentioned is not the one in current release. This is the in-development item from Maddox games, the same folks that put out Sturmovik. Oleg is promising "sometime this year"..... As anyone familiar with their products knows, don't hold your breath....

Okay, I made a choice. An impulsive choice, made purely because of the availability, price and the fact I had a gift certificate to Best Buy in the amount of $25:

Spoiler: Show

It's a 2006 game; it's small; it appears to be SP only (which actually doesn't bother me). But my gift card covered the price, which, at $19.99, the max MSRP, was in keeping with Best Buy's policy of advertising a handful of cheap deals and then charging absolute top dollar for everything else in their inventory.

My short trip there reminded me why I hate my local Worst Buy. The only reason I went was because of my brother-in-law's Christmas gift of the card. The staff always make me feel like I'm bothering them to shop for anything but an overpriced plasma big screen (and why would anyone ever buy big ticket items at BB when the internet is available?). When checking out, their long and serpentine cordons, closed-in checkout area, and steely-eyed managers standing by the exit door (not the entrance door where they should be saying a cheerful "hello" to all the nice people with discretionary income to spend) make it very clear they suspect all their customers of being just one step away from snatch-and-run shoplifters. So I don't ever shop there unless I have a gift card.

My local Comp USA had the very same surly, suspicious, unhelpful vibe, where the managers actually made you open your bag for them to search it as you left the store - even if they watched you check out. Which is why I quit shopping there a few years ago. Apparently I was not alone in my resentment over such shoddy treatment, because my local Comp USA went out of business in 2007. I feel a thread about retail hells coming on.

Anyway, I'll try this game in a few days.

I must be the only person that hated the way planes handled in IL-2.

IMHO best flight sim ever was CFS2 with the 99% add on aircraft. The planes were tested to be accurate in performance and handling by pilots who were familiar with the types.

Graphics did suck til you added on the hi res terrain packs.

I even liked CFS3 better than IL-2

I had a much higher opinion of Pacific Fighters which I know was based on the IL-2 engine but the aircraft felt better in there.

When was the last time you tried IL2 Anlushac?

The flight model has changed quite a few times in its existence, but I understand not feeling comfortable with a flight model.
