Did anyone go? I didn't but my relatives did and I got a cool shirt! :). He was a medic on D-day.
I didn't get to go but I will be going to the National D-Day Memorial this Sunday.
Speaking of that, my cousin was on a school trip and she knows how much I like WWII and she took pictures of all these planes(although everyone shook their heads in shame at her when she took a picture of a german plane).
I was there a couple weeks ago right when it opened. They did a very nice job with it. It's not as moving as the Vietnam Memorial, but it's still very good. THere's also this online registry for veterans (US Only), so if your grandfather or someone you know fought in the "big one" be sure to sign them up.
I've been wanting to get to NO for a while to see the DDay Museum. I met Stephen Ambrose at a fraternity Convention about 10 years ago. Very nice guy. I was sad to see that he had died. I've always wanted to do one of his DDay tours in France. Anyone ever done one of those?
