Well having owned a PS3 now for nearly one month and having probably spent about 6 hours on it in that time I can tell you its a very good all round entertainment system. I am running it on a 32" HDTV @ 720p with AE speakers.

My game list:

Uncharted Drakes Fortune: This is my favourite game by far. Visually speaking it is stunning and impresses me the more I play it and this is coming for a PC gamer who normally plays with everything maxed out and at a high resolution. The whole game just feels really cool, kind of Indiana Jones meets Lars Croft with some awesome set pieces and environments. My only gripe is that it seems very short as I'm already 22% into it yet have only been play it for 2 hours :(

Assassins Creed: Did not really play this a whole lot but it seemed alright. I think I need to get into it a bit more. Controls are very easy and its possible to pull off some cool kills. I was hoping for a bit more Prince of Persia style sword play though with you back flipping off walls to decapitate some towel-head but the combat system is decent enough. I don't like the whole sci-fi theme to it though.

Resistance Fall of Man: Only played the first level but it seems like a good shooter. I am still struggling with the switch from Mouse + Keyboard to Joypad so I pretty much suck at FPS but I am getting there and having so fun along the way. Game looks and feels good but I prefer battling humans to Aliens.

Call of Duty 3: Having played all the COD's on PC (COD1, UO, COD2 +COD4) and loving them I thought I would give this one a try. Completed the first level and I must say it seems lke its going to be a good game. Again I am finding it hard to aim with the joypad but its got some good battle environments in it. Graphics wise its just below COD on PC which is not a bad thing as COD2 looked very pretty.

Blazing Angels: As with the rest of the games I only played the first level which in this as you might expect is a training level. I do like WW2 flight games and this seems like a nice little arcade shooter. Its not the nicest looking games but its easy to fly and fairly easy to aim and it seems like it could be alot of fun if they developers do it right.

I also got the following on Blu Ray: Troy, Black Hawk Down, Superbad, Casino Royale & Pearl Harbor. Only watched some bits of PH but it looks and sounds very decent and I will look forward to watching it fully soon. I purchased a Sony Blu Ray remote too which makes viewing movies much easier although I suspect the controller does a good enough job.

In terms of replacing my PC as my main gaming platform its certainly a very good console but I will continue to buy FPS titles on PC as I much prefer a Keyboard + Mouse combo to a joypad.

I was not planning on getting a PS3 this early but I saw a good deal and thought what the hell and brought it. Deal was: PS3 40GB + HDMI cable + extra official controller + Uncharted + Resistance + Casino Royale = £320 which I thought was a very reasonable price given that some places still sell the PS3 40GB on its own for £280.

Even if you dont like Modern Shooters Call Of Duty 4 is a must have for any Next Gen Console owner and The Orange Box, while TF2 sucks, HL2 and Portal are really great games, that each time you play you learn a bit more. If you wanna have some real fun on your PS3 buy the $80 Time Crisis 4 package, its not as good are originals but it still is damn fun. Infact if you find it, I highly suggest in investing in the Original Time crisis for PS1. That is a true classic game. Oblivion is also good for next gen systems Warhawk is a definate and the Rainbow Six: Vegas games are good so far. I've played the Rainbow Six series for years, and with the power of the next gen systems these games only seem to be getting better. Though original Rainbow Six for PS1 will always be my favorite :] Now im Off for surgery. Cya!

MG42Maniac:

I tried Blazing Angels at a friend's and the Blazing Angels 2 demo on the 360 but they seem rather...shallow. Of course you can't expect 'Amazing Things' () from a flight game in terms of story and characters, but just...ehh, it ends up in 'blow this up, blow that up, blow some more of this up ok good job let's do that again'. Blazing Angels 2 plays like Secret Weapons Over Normandy but don't look quite as good, not to mention you can't actually see the enemy til you're right in their face...otherwise they're just a triangular target bracket. I also don't like throttle/rudder control on the right stick....playing too much Ace Combat has fixed the 'R1/L1 = throttle, R2/L2 = rudder' idea in my head, not to mention a desire for a good storyline and characters with some background as opposed to just being there to help/hinder your blowing-stuff-up-routine.

I did some preliminary investigations into that game and it looks like its going to be really good or really bad because of the nature of the game. I will be sure to check out a demo if there is one floating about.

I was aware that BT keyboards and mice were available but I was not aware they could be used in conjunction with games and the keys remapped to suit your needs. I would not need one for the Internet as I don't use it for the Internet as I have a PC and am not interested in chatting up some 'gal' using the chat functionality the PS3 has.

Yeah I am not expecting it to be as deep as say IL2, I just want something I can have some fun on now and again without having the master 30 controls. I played a demo for a previous Blazing Angels game on PC and enjoyedi t as its a simple game and was a lot of fun, yet I fear ultimately that its simplicity could be its ultimate downfall.

Well now I've got to get my Il-2 & expansion games reinstalled, just for the hell of it. But I'm digging this motion sensor in the Sixaxis; doesn't seem as pretentious as that of the Wiimote, practical and useful as well.

I think one of the most underated and coolest games is Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. I dont know if its just me but third person games are freaking awsome. This game looks great and is really fun. Its got a cool storyline but its kind of short.

That and Vegas 2 are freaking awsome games

I'm still amazed by the range of the bluetooth; I can still talk to teammates while in my apartment's bathroom taking a leak, a good 20-25' away from the console. Also like how the VOIP is separate from in-game sound, something I liked about SOCOM. Back in my PS2 days, we always had to worry about yanking the cords out of the controller ports, but no longer! If this keeps up, I just might have to leave PC gaming, for good!:p
