USMA2010Whitmann was the guy that KOd about 30 shermans (yeah, real hard) right? Either way, WTF is a Firefly doing at Bocage? That got its first large-scale combat debut in the Battle of Hurtgen forrest... Late 44.
Read, that will get you ready for West Point... I suggest Panzer Aces by Franz Kurowski. But if you don't want to buy the book, "At about 8:00am, Wittmann attacked the British column on the main road, while the rest of his company (4 Tigers as one brokedown) attacked the British forces around Hill 213. Soon after, Wittmann destroyed Sherman Firefly and Cromwell IV and headed south to attack the rest of the enemy transport column. After knocking out 8 half-tracks, 4 Bren Carriers and 2 6 pdr anti-tank guns, Wittmann reached the crossroad with the road to Tilly-sur-Seulles. At the crossroad, he destroyed 3 Stuart tanks from recon unit and reached the outskirts of the town of Villers-Bocage." Quote from http://www.achtungpanzer.com/gen3.htm
Isnt the truck in the game a Stud(is it a or e?)baker? at least thats what i thought it was but i never really payed attenion. what i meant was that american ammo truck.
Those would be some sick tank-oriented maps!
Nice ideas, but first I'd like to see hugely improved Crommwell and Firefly skins and models. The appearnace of those two vehicles is the reason why I'm using Typhoons in Breakthrough on Brits 90% of time. The Crommwell certainly is an improvement from .5, but still nowhere near FH quality. The allies also need few additional fireflies.. 5 Crommwells isn't enough to take even a single Tiger out, what I've noticed.
Mazz, seeing how you named yourself after Bobbey, its a shame your a crappy tanker (kiddin). So heres what I think.
Original Bocage map: This map should be recycled and repositioned. Its a nice map and I think it could make a good infantry fighting map top to bottom. Give or take a few Stuggies here, and a Sherries/Cromies there. Make the hedges like on Gold beach, make a new base, and your set.
Villers: 4 Tigers, 5 Cromes, 1 Fire.. This screams Breakthrough '44 without the planes. I like the idea, but what role does the infantry play? I guarantee you it will get boring around the point where everyone is AT class Tiger huntin (Specially due to the nerfed turret)... Overall I think its good, if not too big.
Cologne: 1 P47D? Why not 2, youll save GI the time of knockin everything out. As for everything else, it wont be made untill 0.8. I'd love to see a Nashton though. Better be fast too.
yeah, ive just heard the story about his one day.
shit, at this point, ill take ANYTHING to replace the current bocage. but this one sounds totally kick ass.
:feedback: :flag: i think that a pearl harbor map would be good just like coral sea with respawning planes in 10 seconds cause there are P-40 Warhawks in Forgotten Hope another good map would be Raid on Tokyo with LT Col. James Dolittle and some B-25 mitchells on Carriers
Driver- I only think 1 P47D should do cause 2 would give the germans to much trouble. -On Villers you could have building flags and such so the infantry have things to do besides hunt Tigers.
-The 4 Tiger with there horrible turret speed IMO(yes i know , its more realistic) will be about equal to 5 cromwells and 1-2 Firefly WHEN put in a city environment.
-The amount of tanks for both sides will make cologne one hell of a busy map.
do not turn this into a everyone gives a map suggestion thread plz.
matt, those could never work. u cant get a b25 off the scaled down carriers of FH. plus, it would suxxor. they wernt intercepted until after the bombing, and then by those shit ass biplanes!
peralharbor would never work. 2 much LAG! all of those ships, plus tons o planes?! no way...
pearl harbor would not be that good anyway, at least with the way BF1942 is. The planes would get owned by AA on the Battleships, the lag would be unstoppable, and even if you do hit the Battleship with a bomb you wont get a kill most likely. it would only be good on 25v25 servers where the sky is full of bombers and torpedo planes. This is not a good game for PTO Naval warfare.
