Well since VOIP and the point system that rewards drivers with half the kills. I think it could be Possible to have the Commander and The Driver Seperate. This would allow a more realistic and unique expirence and this would help boost teamwork. Something that I have always wanted to see but couldn't be down with BF1942 since there was such poor communication between players.

What does everyone else think?

Not when there is a small number of people playing. Is it possible for the game to spawn tanks that have the combined position when there is a small number of people playing and spilt positions when there is a large number?

Its sounds good on paper but in practice it doesnt work well. I guess we all forget how the artillery was used in vanilla BF42 when two random people got in. VOIP or any of the other features that try to promote teamwork in BF2 do not change the fact that smacktards will use every means at there disposal to ruin your game.

Well yeah of course. Doesn't matter even if you have it one person smacktards will ruin gameplay anyways esp. with that lame Punish Team Kill which gets abused wat too much. Problem is I see a lot of Rambo Tanks Commanders. And doing something like this will make the gameplay a bit more realistic and slower.

Another problem is that we are still limited to 64 players. Making vehicles require realistic personel loadouts just really doesnt fit into the scale of the game. Im not sure what you mean by rambo tank commanders. Anti-tank weapons and/or air-power are plentiful and effective on most FH maps. Tanks are not that powerful unless they sit back and camp(which is what they should be doing in most situations). Lets look at a map like El Alamein with about 6-8 tanks or so per side. On a 64 player server with 3 people per tank thats 18-24 people per side in tanks.....That the vast majority of people in tanks. On a smaller server it would be even worse(barring different size maps). Thier is not enough cooperation outside of playing with friends to have multi-person tanks. It would be much more realistic and it would slow down gameplay yes, but there are simply not enough people especialy on tank heavy maps.

I have one question.

Are you primarily a tanker or a infantry person?

Being primarily a tanker, I'd say that a 3-4 position tank *might* be extremely fun in certain circumstances (all players on TS or Skype, preferably of the same clan or friends). I had a lot of fun in a B1bis with a friend the other day, for example.

However, the risks of having a smacktard driving your tank or gunning friendlies ruins this idea. Worse, there is a possibility of having nobody to drive or gun in your tank. Furthermore, it would make life in the small servers horrible.

If it was mandatory, people would generally start to learn how to play or start to walk and avoid getting yelled at for not crewing well. But the point has been spoken. 32 people on a side isn't much. The difficulty in war games is trying to make 16,32,64 people seem like THOUSANDS. The more tricks you employ, the better the illusion.

Well The UT 2004 Mod "Red Orchestra" uses 3 positions for a tank. And let me say, as far as I rcall, tank combat sucked in RO. Its just that, in RL, tank crews acted as one unit, but players in BF don't. The tanks ingame would just behave unrealisticly as they wouldn't act as a single unit. The player aspect is just another con. However, with the introduction of Voice-Com, there might actualy be a chance that it might work in FH 2. Thats why I would suggest, the Devs make tanks generaly controlable by one player, but on some maps, where tanks are rare, they could include the multiplayer version of the tanks with seperated driver/gunner positions. That would show if the idea works alright ingame or if its rather useless without ruining a whole version.

That's a great idea. And how about realistic crew numbers for ships too? For example the Yamato had a crew of 2800 men. I would gladly volunteer to be the ship's cook and provide food for the rest of the crew. That would be awesome.:naughty:
