I've got a asrock m266 and it has only 4x agp slot. I'm about to buy a videocard but the card that i'm getting supports 8x agp. But there's card that support both 4x and 8x agp. Does this affect the gaming performance? should I change my motherboard? Does the 4x agp is good for future gaming?

most cards that support 8X Agp support 4X....but 4X is getting to be the PCI of cards right now...its considered slow... 8X is getting slow compared to the new PCI express...although it isnt recognizable right now it will be. If u got the cash go for a new mobo with 8X or a pci express and get a new card...X800 or 6800 if u can.

I don't have money right now. but if i'm going to get a new card like a good one and not gonna change my mobo. Do you think it will still be good in gaming?

Are you guys sure? Because I heard people that know pretty much everything about graphic cards, they even overclock their cards, and they say theres little difference between agp4x or 8x.

8x has almost double the bandwith through the bus than the 4X.....basically...faster transfer speeds from the card to the mobo

Yes but in performance, the difference is very little. At least for today's games and graphic cards. Just like p4 2.6 ghz and p4 3.0 ghz with HT. The difference is little in performance.

My graphic cards uses AGP x4 and new games works quite good. My friend's card's (he's got the same as I have) uses AGP x8 and we can't see any difference.

I think there's only small difference between AGP4-cards and AGP8-cards and it has only little influence on efficiency.
