Now, im very intrested to see what Omaha Beach will turn out like. But here a couple of suggestions, or guidelines for the terrain and objects. I have a sketch comming soon. Suggestions: *No Saving Private Ryan Clones (Tall beach with 2 bunkers) *1 large bunker and multipe mini bunkers *Extensvie tunnel and trench net work *1 Flak 88 in the rear of the beach *2 flack veirlings on the top of the cliffs Terrain based off of: http://www.dday04.com/grand.php?id_photo=267 Defenses Based off of: http://www.britannica.com/eb/art-40543 http://www.britannica.com/eb/art-40547 *In the middle of the beach* On the left we have hills with small cliffs, and to the right, the cliffs get higher and steeper. *In the far back of the map: *Marshes with some craters from the previous boming raids, and pre-invasion naval bombardment. *1 large command bunker as the last CP, with multiple casemates and mortar positions. *Beachline varies in distance between the cliffs, some areas are so close to the cliffs that gunners will have enough visibility to open fire on the higgins boats before they drop off soldiers, while some are so far back that it gives time for the US infantry units to get out of the boats alive.
Pretty good. Nice ideas, I think the Devs should take that into consideration.
I also think that the current Omaha Charlie Sector is good enough, except for the land after the beach. I just think that the land behind the 2 big bunkers should have more trenches and not as open as it is right now. But the whole beach though, is almost absolute.
p.s.: Don't forget, you'll probably get 'flamed' for suggesting this before the Devs even started doing Western Campaign. :)
Those are very good ideas indeed, enough to make a yep you guessed it a better Omaha map :naughty:
I'd like to see more ways to get off the beach than the bunkers and that one path.
just make omaha charlie push and I'll be happy. I hate back capping.

Hmm, trying to remember where Rangers scaled the walls, if some grappling hooks were included, that'd be sweet.
That was Point du Hoc, been suggested and discussed over and over and over.
I suggested a sort of "gradual push" a while ago, including many cappable points inside bunkers; the bunker network that you'd have to fight through sounds pretty cool. This was done nicely in one of the CoDs and was very playable (yes I know it was supposed to represent that particular Point du Hoc fight, and looks nothing like the actual place, and yes I've been there, but still.)
Omaha itself didn't have that many really hard core million-tons-of-concrete invincible Atlantic wall bunker networks, but a lot of trench and other defenses. I always thought the static defense installations in BF/FH seemed kind of forlorn and underused :-)
nice suggestion, more realistic, I hate map with private ryan (two big bunker) ! I hope, devteam hear you for next campaign in Western Europe ...
I think Charlie Sector was great, maybe the bunkers were to big, and the map behind was to big, but I thought the beach itself was great! I mean they include everything in what your talking about for that second defensive screen, maybe if they just tweeked the bunkers and behind them a bit it would be alot better.
As Charlie Sector is, I've always loved it. But I can wait for another Charlie Sector. Id like to see some of the other beaches represented. And it would be nice to lose the background sounds taken from SPR ;-)
And then reused in Tarawa!
The funny part is that I had watched SPR a while back, probably a D-Day WWII movie extravaganza! And the firs time I had seen it, I was blown away. The last time I watched the movie, I found it a helluva lot less exciting then re-living it FH style.
