someone mentioned (too lazy to check who) that in planes, instead of ammo bars and things like that, there could be those clock-like meters (dunno what they're called in english). well that brought me to the idea, that for realism, u remove all of the hud, exept the chat and voicechat. that means, no crosshairs, no ammo bars, no health bars, nothing. i know it's a little crazy idea and it would be hard to implement but let me explain it some more anyway.
INFANTRY I'm not an expert about war or infantry fights or anything that has to do with it, but i think that it would be more realistic to remove health/ammo bars.
instead of health bar u would have the little soldier painted there, and when u get hit, for example, in a leg, the little soldier guy's leg colors red and u walk slower or u can't walk at all. as for the other parts of the body, if u get hit u also walk slower or you just cant sprint.
about ammo, you should only have a number of rounds displayed, but for the gun, you'd have to count how many bulets you fire in order to know how much do u have left.
VHEICLES again, i'm no expert on war vheicles or any vheicles at all (exept bicycles ;)) but i think some things should be changed here too.
IMO every tank should have it's own crew. by crew, i mean a mg gunner who also spots enemies, a driver who obviously drives the tank and a turret gunner who takes control of all the weapons exept top mounted MG. and when the MG gunner would duck in, maybe he should close the "doors" so the bullets or nades cant go in.
not totally realistic, i know, but i was looking at the gameplay too. but since bf2 should be a team based game, and so should be FH2, i thought that when using tanks there should be also some teamwork, not like, every tank driver is a one man army.
also, i think that a player who wants to enter a tank shouldd climb up to the entrance or whatever is it called, jump in and THEN press the enter/exit key. the same should be with all the other vheicles.
and finally, the HUD. remove all, exept maybe the ammo bar for the turret gunner.
i think that's all, post ur opinions plz. i might add a few things later...
It has been already mentioned and is possible to read about in FH2 info thread on the case of HUD. As for other suggestions, some of them are impossible to do, other won't perform good in bf type of game, like the full tank crew.

So, who's going to drive the tank and not get to shoot any weapons? You have to think the about most gamers minds. If they can't shoot in a FPS they probably won't use it. So you are most of the time left with tanks not moving. Even if you wan't to promote teamplay. This will backfire, because quite frankly most people like to "frag" other players.
Even if killcount doesn't tell you much about a gamers performance in FH1, some of them still go like "OMG look at my score, I'm so good". FH is way to equipment and environment dependant to keep track of points per player. We'll have to see what the FH2 scoring system will be like (Something about shared scoring system?)
It's interesting how that tank crew idea has worked out in RO. A single tank driver grabs the tank and drives to where he wants, then switches to gunner when he needs to shoot.

Works better than being in it with some guy who doesn't listen and doesn't know what he's doing...
So you may as well just keep the two posistions combined to begin with.(at Nice Guys suggestion)
Since nothing else gets the same amount of 'realism' I'd oppose it as well.
There are other places that could use more 'realism', f.i. the statics. Some stuff you can do with the BF2 engine, you can do even more stuff with some imagination, but others just won't work because of engine and/or PRBMAK (ProblemResidesBetweenMouseAndChair)
I don't think that needing more then 1 person to get a tank working correctly ( firing and driving without stoping in between to switch places ) would be a good idea.
As the same with BF1942, BF2 only features 64 Players max, which means that if you have a tank map where each side has 10 tanks, you'd lose 20 players alone to tanks, keeping 12 soldiers open, take in mind you might want to have one player on artillery, 1 in a plane, kick one for teamkilling or something else wacky, you have 9 soldiers left.
Ofcourse this is just a huge example, but I don't think it's wise to do so untill Battlefield series switches over to larger players ammounts.
To me Battlefield 2 seems a bit emtpy to resemble large battlefields, having imaginary tank crew members, fills up that empty-ness by a little bit.
Perhaps the devs could implent a code where you hear crewmen randomly yell stuff in your tank?
I like the ammo "guage" suggestion :D .
yes i know that gameplay like that would be very different from the original but when i'm looking for a ww2 fps i want realism, yes, i know that realism might be lame, but i like it this way, so i thought that i'm not the only one here...
@pvt. Allen: i know that some things might not perform well, but we havent really tried yet did we? also, i dont see anything impossible in my suggestions?
yes, unfortunately, many gamers are so lame and stupid that they take vehicles for themselfs and do shit like that, but as i mentioned, it's for realism. atleast to me, it's kinda funny that every soldier, no matter if he's medic/assault/eng/antitank/ballscratcher if u want, can drive all kinds of planes, tanks, jeeps, ships, boats etc... in Fh1 this was "fixed" a little by adding parachute only to pilot class, so u actually had reason to pick a pilot kit in order to survive the plane crash.
so there should be some advantage in the tank crew member kit like, i dunno, maybe the only class that could repair the tank. armed only with pistol so if ure such a skillz0r with it and u kill an enemy with a better weapon u simply pick it up and continue on foot, if ur tank gets destroyed.
