OMG!!! This thread got so jacked and it started out useful....
i shot without a scope and hit a can a second, but thats not the point, but Mr.Irritation does have a point. anyway the point is, if you have a machinegun, its very easy to kill. imagine, only one .45 to the chest area would take someone down if not kill them. its just whose faster. making the rifles inaccurate would take the skill out of the game and it would in turn make it no better than those turn-based rpg games that rely on chance. the BEST thing to do to eliminate the crackshot problem would be to add a slight bullet drop and rifle sway. adding a slight rifle sway would mean you would have to really think about your shot when shooting from range becuase moving the rifle a centimeter to the right, would shoot maybe a foot to the right at 100m, and it would add the difficulty which will make it almost impossible for a noob to hit a moving person. rifle sway and slight bullet drop would make the mod much better, making rifles inaccurate, would take away from it. so making the rifles inaccurate would take the oppurtunity to become a truly skilled sniper would be obliterated because of a stupid notion that making rifles(that are accurate in real life) inaccurate would make the game more realistic. btw, k98's have an effective range of 800m, the bullets drop about 4 inches at 100m(i think....). and the skilled snipers could hit a target from a mile away during that time, very skilled mind you.
Fine, if you have a ping <50 For those of us in the elite high-ping marksmans club, hitting a zig-zagging infantryman at a good distance is really, really hard. Keep in mind, that any bullet drop or sway that will make it a little harder for most shooters, will make it 10X harder for people with ~100 ping or worse.
Won't somebody in Western Canada please make an FH server? Pretty please?
Western Canada? You mean that thing that Alaska hangs off of?
Just to throw in my 2 cents. From personal experience with rifles, they are very very accurate weapons indeed. The bullets go exactly where the rifle is aimed, but for a really great shot, it does take a few seconds to aim. Truth is that the rifles are too accurate in the game, because most of the time I aim at a dot on the horizon and I can get a kill. I'm actually very good at long range moving target kills, but even I get annoyed with killing people that way. I know it's unrealistic and I know IRL there's no way I could hit shit at that range even if it weren't moving. Also, I remember playing on a modded Vanilla server. It was Omaha, except with the k98 vs. the Garand. It was with with ONLY those two weapons and if you remember, the accuracy on the rifles in Vanilla wasn't that great. The crosshairs didn't come together to a point, they were slightly spread apart. This led to AMAZING battles on that side street in Vanilla's Omaha Beach. Guys were taking cover, giving covering fire, and it felt like a real battle. It lasted a while (allies won because of the Garand's firepower). There are never firefights in FH, I almost NEVER fight up close because of what I can do with a rifle (I normally play on open maps because my computer can't really handle city maps) and I end up just picking dots off the map.
this is a realism mod, i understand if they take realism out for the sake of gameplay. and its true that most of the time the firefights cant even get started (but when it does, its sick) but thats cuz there are no frenzied shots, no choas or panic that occurs in real battle. most people are calm when taking a shot (or getting shot at) instead of scrambling for cover and dropping the rifle or any other panic induced situation. im sure that the FH team will do the right thing and i have faith in them. the only request i have is to make it as realistic as possible (maybe have accurate maps as well?) and i will be happy.
Dousenmost people are calm when taking a shot (or getting shot at) instead of scrambling for cover and dropping the rifle or any other panic induced situation.
Fear of death is about the last thing I want in my computer game. I don't want to shit my pants for an fps shooter, and I imagine I'm not alone with that opinion.
