Hello.

I haven't been here in awhile (or played the game) but I just saw something in a webpage and though it might be interesting to put it in game.

I've seen that some maps in FH have some "secret" weapons of WWII that never really saw action in the real conflict.

I thought it would be interesting to add some more of these weapons to a map or two, specifically the "MAUS" and the "Ratte" tanks.

There could be a map in which the allies only objective is to destroy the only protoype of the "Ratte" (even though it never got past the drawing board IRL).

I don't know if it's possible to render a tank that big in the BF1942 engine, but it would certainly be interesting.

Anyway, here's the link to one of the articles, specifically the one in which the "Ratte" is mentioned:

Note that it is a satire site, and some people might not appreciate the site's usual content and even find it offensive. I'm only posting a link because of the WWII wacky-weapons article.

hehe there have been man request for the panzer III, maus and others. The panzer III will be in FH soon (i know that you didn't asked), the maus? who can tell what secrets the FH devs are hiding from us. It isn't very likly that we see the maus anytime soon since their are far more important vehciles (and tanks) -in the sence of "actually used on the battlefield" then the maus. Just wait and sit down. Thats all we can do. PS: and anybody who says something along the lines of "j00 suck, search!!!111oneoneone" or "lock this, this suck0rs :lock: "is going DOWN! Either make a mature reply telling your opinion or don't bother posting at all and let this thread die a natural death.

IMHO, those should be left out until everything else is made that had an impact on the war. If the Maus makes it in before the Panzer III, or the Comet before the ISU-122, something will die.

Here are a few simple diagrams of what the thing was supposed to look like:

I think the top one is of the Ratte 1500, and even bigger version of the Ratte 1000.

Here's some history from a site I googled up:

On June 23rd of 1942, Dir. Dip. Ing. Grote (along with Dr.Hacker) from the Ministry of Armament, who was responsible for the production of U-Boots suggested the development of a tank with a weight of 1000 tons. Adolf Hitler himself expressed interest in this project and allowed Krupp to go ahead with it. Project was designated as Krupp P 1000 (Ratte - Rat). This "land cruiser" would be 35 meters long, 14 meters wide and 11 meters high. P 1000 would be equipped with 3.6 meters wide tracks per side made of three 1.2 meters tracks, similar to those used in excavators working in coalmines. It was planned to power P 1000 with two MAN V12Z32/44 24 cylinder Diesel marine engines with total power of 17000hp (2 x 8500hp) or with eight Daimler-Benz MB501 20 cylinder Diesel marine engines with total power of 16000hp (8 x 2000hp). According to the calculations it would allow P 1000 to travel at maximum speed of 40km/h. P 1000 would be armed with a variety of weapons such as: two 280mm gun (naval gun used in Scharnhorst and Gneisenau warships), single 128mm gun, eight 20mm Flak 38 anti-aircraft guns and two 15mm Mauser MG 151/15 gun.

This thing wouldnt need to, it would just drive over/trough everything in its way.. I wonder how sherman crews would have felt having to drive underneath one of these baby's to shoot the "weak" belly :p if they could make an impression at all that is.
