i think that you should add the battle that the IS-3 Have fought aginst the japnese...and also add ammo types...such as...SAbot and He for tanks... cuz most of the ammo for the IS-3 was Sabot(i think..or AP shells)
No, it probably never saw action in WWii
The IS-3 was a thorn in the side of allied tank designers until the early sixties, to counter it the British developed the Conqueror to supplement the Centurion, while the Americans developed the M103, what chance would the Japanese, with Ha-Go's and Chi-Ha's, have against it?
but....there is a record that after the war ended in europe the USSR attacked japnese positions and in some battles an IS-3 tank battlion was present:nodding:
Show us the record then please.
...nvm i was thinking about APFSDS rounds lol. A possibility to switch between high explosive and armor piercing rounds would be cool though.
UTHERShow us the record then please.
here you go: the participation of IS-3's in Far Eastern Far Eastern Front battles (in August 1945) At least One tank Regiment of IS-3 tanks Was sent .and this was the load of ammo in IS-2,IS-3 Tanks: Like its Predecessor, the IS-2,the IS-3 Normaly Carried 28 shells eighteen HE Rounds and Ten AP Rounds the Ammuntion distribution suggests that infantry and other "soft" targets were intended as the targets of the IS-3
KNow i meant the official record or at least the source you got your info from.
Actually it says one tank regiment of IS-3's was sent but combat usage is unverified.
"The participation of IS-3's in Far Eastern Front battles (in August 1945) is still unverified: at least one tank regiment of IS-3 tanks was sent, but Soviet combat records don't confirm any actual combat."
