I'm guessing squad leaders in FH2 will still handle request for assets from commanders. But what about taking it a step further. Like SQLs requesting assistance from players in specific vehicles.

For example, a squad might be held up by a Tiger, without the assets to take it out. Instead of just calling in for artillery from the comm, or spamming the "Tiger spotted" key hoping somebody else might eventually care, they could make a specific request to people in pilots or armored units for help. It could be it's own "channel" of sorts that only people in these units would hear. And any pilot in the air or tanks looking to engage would know exactly where they are needed and what for.

This might possibly cut down on spam in the general channels and could better direct assets to place where they know they are needed.

I don't know if it's possible but it's just a thought.

Nice idea, but to code, it might be hell.

That's an amazingly good idea...not sure how to code it but I hope it's possible.

Jetro, Fantastic idea. How many times have you called for help from a nearby tank only to watch him drive away on minimap? This way their would be no question he would know he's been asked for help. I bet it could be done the same way you spot specific vehicles using that rose thingymajigy. So instead of using the minimap you simply 'look' at the friendly tank hit Q or whatever and select "Help please". Love the idea.

I have wanted to see this (In the forms of an airstrike request), ever since I first played BF2 online.

We can use modified squad leader commands (like the attack here, or move here, orders) which work really well. I was using them one testing session in coordination with our squad's stuka. I was sitting in a trench and targeting AT positions with the "demolish here" order, which game him a nice HUD target, and a big ol' purple line on his minimap, making it insanely easy to hit the target without having to look for it first.

We could easily replace some of the unused SL commands with things like "airstrike" or "advance armor", etc etc. But really, they all do the same thing which is paint a target for your teamates. If you tell your squadmates what you mean by "demolish=airstrike" then it works just as well.

I dont think we can make it vehicle specific though. Just to whoever is in your squad.

Really good idea, I would be so happy to bomb something when in Stuka.

Sounds like I'm going to have a lot of joy with my stick when FH2 comes out. But seriously, thinking of diving in the Stuka with the snake camo makes me hard.
