Why are there no normal runways?
Every airfield runway has some sort of building on it, so you have to land far from the shelter of a hanger, then slowly reverse to resupply/repair. Can the hangers be off to the side or even make a whole new runway with nothing obstructing it..?
I've never had this problem. How do you land? This has always worked fine for me. It's also fast.
Fly towards the building as you land and then do a 180 while you rearm and away you go.
i wish we had a L-shaped one...that would make landing and takeoff easier, also less chance of collisions.
I usually just go straight through barracks and stuff...;) But sometimes I guess you have to turn around which can take some time. Like german strip on Alam Halfa.
Well it works as intended at the moment. Planes aren't supposed to rearm on the fly, so most airfields are made so that you have to turn your plane to be able to take off again. Personally I see no problem here. :)
Agree with N24... FH established allready in FH1 that the "fly-over-repair+ammo" from bf42 was nonsense (remember the endless rape from the planes)... You need to land and re-arm, then take off.. this is not primarily just to make it harder for you to re-arm, its two other important apects: first one being you should take care more where to drop your load... not just bomb the first enemy you see then go back to quickly get a new bomb. Second is that to land, taxi in + re-arm provides the realism feel FH is about, also you will have a chance to plan your assault (back to first point) in a better way you'd do if you would just strafe the airfield to hook up new bombs & ammo.
And also, planes are vulnerable on the runway. A good portion were destroyed on the ground, so getting all planes to taxi adds additional realism...

The problem I find is bumping into other planes, manned or unmanned, at the end of the runway. I think it would be better to have a designated reload spot(s) at the side of the runway. They could be marked with fuel and ammunition trucks/drums/crates on both sides so you have to pull in and out. Here I will do a lame drawing... This would still be immersive and still force you to taxi to reload, but it would cut down on runway collisions.
One thing I found out today is that the planes (at least the stuka) are appalingly bad at reversing on the ground. I found this out when I landed the stuka on Tobruk and went into the dip under the canvas it spawns under. It would not reverse out whatever I tried.

A good idea, but the planes would need to be much more responsive on the ground. At the moment its difficult to taxi about.
I have no problem with landing towards the hanger or away from it, but in my opinion it's not the least bit realistic having buildings ON the runway.
Even make the reload/repair time longer to prevent fly-by reloads/repairs.
