This is a very short, simple idea to make Alpenfestung really feel as though it is a "what-if" map.

Change the name from Alpenfestung 1945 to Alpenfestung 1946

Well Germany surrendered in May 1945, but as you know this is a what-if if the hardcore nazi SS troops would decide to continue the fight in Bavaria and the alps therefore logically it's still summer 1945.

Well, the whole idea of the map is a hypothetical situation. Hence the use of the Gothas, Komets, and Arados.

I seriously doubt that the Wolverines were equipped with heavy tanks, AA guns, aircraft, and artillery either way.

Yeah but it's more unlikely everyone would take a break and continue the fight same time next year.

errr.... those planes where there near the end of the war, it is a fantasy map but it does fit in the a april/may 1945 map where germans at a secret base try to hold of the allies because they can't/don't want to accept defeat. It is not a "what if" map if you ask me, more a map where the devs allowed certain freedoms in the unit setup.

Jesus guys, its a simple idea to make it seem as though the war was prolonged...

FYI: 3 Japanese soldiers continued to "fight" on the Philippines until the early 1980s. They thought the activity caused by the Korean and Vietnam wars were the Americans reacting to new Japanese offensives.

This is not some tabloid BS either. They had an interview with one of them on the History Channel not to long ago...

Why not make a Neu Schwabenland map on the Antartic where allies try to prevent the launch of the Nazi-spaceships heading for the moon.

Just kidding.
