Is it possible, or being done, that ammo boxes can be limited for certain teams? Its not like a ammo box of britian suddenly has K98 ammo secretly stashed in the bottom. Like maybe who ever controls the spawn can use the box. Also, I don't think a sherman can roll up and pull 10 rounds from a 2 foot wide box. So is it possible to restrict that? Maybe even small spawn points can be ammo depots for tanks and infantry on huge maps. And not all maps could have ammo supplier boxes. Think bout tis.

I didnt think it was possible to have diffrent types of ammo. Same ammo for everything in bf2 engine. But when i think of it it was only infantry ammo this applyd to... Tanks can have places where only they can rearm. Like the UAV trailer in PR. but only friendly UAV.

Dunno about mags and clips for brit/nazi.

Actualy, just remove the ammo box, and the support class will take care of ammo needs.

For tanks? Maybe some sort of support vehicle, a halftrack with shells?

Really? How is a single guy going to carry all that ammo? Besides, i think the support class is going to have something better to do then run around and resupply everyone. For example, manning the machinegun.

Depends on the country in question, ofcourse. the Germans could use trucks/halftracks (sdkfz 252 for example) and armoured ammo carriers for this. Although i think that it would be a good idea to have a ammo dump in the main base, just in case. For example the Germans used this converted Bren Carrier 731 (e). vk302lx0.jpg

hehe, anyway, I think all we need to do is just have each base an ammo dump, and maybe an ammo cache at a some CPs. Or, we can make it strategical, and have none at all. Is there a way to make ammo boxes have limited ammo? If thats not possible, get rid of ammo boxes, and roll in the halftracks.

Well, thats what i said. Ammo dump at the main base. However, having no ammo dump avalaible has nothing to do with strategy whatsoever.

Please read my post again, thank you very much. :)

I think ammo and medical supply vehicles and major stashes (not many of them) are the way to go, like in .7

I'm happy with the way ammo boxes are in bf42 and the way support can distribute ammo in bf2. also if your gonna restrict the amount of ammo a sherman can take out of an ammo box then your gonna have to start thinking about restricting supports ability to distribute ammo amounts as well, i mean that backpack aint gonna carry many tank or artillery shells is it now ;) . Then if supports ammo is restricted ur gonna have to think about medics being restricted in how many ppl they can heal too. you gotta think of the overflow effect, everyhting needs to be balanced

the game engine isnt designed to be completely realistic, if it was possible it wouldnt be out for another 15 years whilst they think of all the tiny little things that make it unrealistic.
