(Forgotten Hope 2-related) I did a quick search for "theatre" and it came up blank, so I thought it safe to post this.

Have anyone else than me thought about the possibility of having a whole theatre, or at least a whole nation, be a Forgotten Hope 2 map (I bet no one have:rolleyes:)?

For example all of Western Europe (France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Western Germany), the Eastern Front (Russia, the Baltic States, Poland, and East Germany), or the Pacific theatre from west to east (with a Japanese carrier starting near Pearl Harbour, about to launch the famed air strike).

Seeing Desert Combat made an (unofficial, I think) interesting map of all of Iraq, including neighbouring nations, I think it's very possible to do this. You'd have to simplify cities and such, of course, but I think it'd still be great fun.

For example, for a European campaign centered on the invasion of France, control points could be West Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Ardennes, and Paris. The Maginot Wall could be an impassable area with static defenses, just for eye-candy's sake.

Your thoughts?

sounds like a cool idea, like i used to map a whole europe map for age of empires 2, with teutons starting in germany, vikings in scandinavia, persians in turkey, etc.

ok, it would be a very unrealistic scale, cause the map size is very limited in bf2 for such a project, but why not try it and see if its fun to play :)

Maybe not as official maps, but fan mappers, sure. I kind of hate the idea of be able to drive from Normandy Beaches to Berlin. :D

Yeah, I remember there was one poor game called Normandy: Assignement Berlin where you as aliied soldier was walking towards Berlin and captureing it till the end of game wich was less than one day. WEll, maybe as an experiment. But I'm all against such maps, it's just way too unrealistic in every aspect.

Of course Switzerland would have to be out of bounds... :naughty: ... except for those with one or more Gold ingots.

I don't like the idea. I suggest you try a subsctiption to Battleground Europe. They have all of western Europe on 1 map and it kind of works, but the cost of a huuuuuge map is also readily visible.

PS: now I got to post something so I could throw up my new signature :P

I doubt this being possible, the guy who created the ''iraq'' map back then for Iraq, heavly scaled down the entire country ( i believe it takes some longer then 30 seconds to fly over the entire country with a jet from point A to B. Another point would be the accurateness of all the countries, all the small town and cities would need to be included as well, and i doubt anyone would settle with 1 building for a town, 2 buildings for a city, and 3 building s for a gian city ( capital ).

I don't know about including every little city, just the larger ones. And I'm pretty sure more than 3 buildings for each city would fit on the map.

I'm happy for you;).
