I have this one idea on loading screens while the map loads. Instead of showing the minimap on the loading screen, there would be various pictures of that particular battle. One picture would fade out, another picture fades in and so on.

It's a good idea, but I like the concept of having a battle explanation/debriefing and mini-map more. It's good to see pictures of a battle and thus get a historical representation, but it's even better that the player knows in words what the battle is about, how it will/was fought, and how to play the map.

but..after the first week this info will become stupid...and non entertaining as people will already know what to do.....these so called fading in and out pictures, although kind of unecessary work that is just prolonging other things will give us the entertainment during long loads rather than getting someone to play the guitar over teamspeak while we wait

I thinks thats great and you inspired me! do you think its possible that the first time you load a map a voice comes up(like the voice for the tooltips in bf2) and it gives you a little breifing on your minimap and with various pictures? Maybe the voice can address themselves as someone who was at the battle from maybe a general to a lt. Then, after the first time it can just come up with pictures and all that that was suggested. ex: "ello chaps! this is general montgomery,(he would state his unit). Well, lets get to it, shall we mate?(from here he would state info about the battle and assignments of units during that time)(while the voice is talking, maybe maps, pictures in combat, etc. would be coming up)." And maybe it wouldnt just be the first time. You could have like 5 people for each battle and it goes on random slideshow like loading for it, while it briefs you or tells you about the battle. You could have 5 different point of views, a general, a german lt., a pvt. in the british army, a tanker, and maybe even a civilian(just showing pictures and telling about battle, no briefing) Kinda impossible and crazy but i gave a shot:P

we discussed this earlier. The issue with voice briefing is the size. FH2 would already be rather huge and to have voice briefing for each map (my FH1 has 75 of em!) is seriously UH-UH....Way too big

I think having a map at the side with named points, crucial vehicle points like airbases noted, perhaps the strategy plan (As was the case in BF42 campaign maps) would be good

Also, the written briefing should be divided into 3: a) A historic assesment of the situation without stating who won or lost the battle, the generals involved, the amount of troop, and defintely the year b) A mission assessment with key notes of certain strategic points for example Kidney Ridge, points of most likely conflict, ar priority, etc... Direct Military strategy, c) finally, a Trivia section that states historic tidbits about the map, Kursk was the greatst tank battle ever, Omaha was part of Operation overLord: The largest amphibious invation ever, Who won the real battle in the end...That sorta thing

The pictures should be the wall paper, superimposed by everything else... The pictures should include: 1) sketch Concepts of vehicles that were first used during that battle King Tiger etc 2) Historic battle scenes from that campaign or fight 3) Artworks from the time 4) Ingame pics of the level (Key points)

*Oh, and perhaps music related to that theater... Russian-German, British-German, American-German (SPR or COD2ish), American-Japanese... Something catchy, WW2, galant war-ish...

or.... Music that brings out the vigor of the battle per map....Maybe japanese type versus German type i.e 6 types in all (3 for each): Massive battle (Iwo, Tarawa, Bulge), Medium battle, light battle.... to get the feel of what is tough and what it not

The minimap pic is in .png format. If it's possible to do somekind of slideshow with .png files like some .gif pics, then there wouldn't be any problems in doing the suggested thing.

No idea can the pic file be changed into another format though...

Personaly, I'd rather want to hear rantams music flowing in the background, then some guy talking.

I'd, personaly, like a good map of the battlefield, showing the flags as objectives and allowing me to make some plans "Try and spawn at that airfield. if it's not ours.. I'll spawn there.. get a squad going and charge the airfield."

etc..

The text information would be handy for some educational purposes. Like me, many other FH players are not familiar with every battle in WWII. So it could prove fun to read upon some info on battles you didn't know about. If your bored reading it, you can always read it outloud with a discovery channel voice.. especialy if there are lots of other people in the room. Provides endless hours of fun.

:p
