Something like that in BF1942's map "Battle of Britain":p It really adds atmosphere.

It is possible with the sounds and stuff. With the Normandy release upcoming I personally hope they put in the battle sounds at Omaha Beach (just like in FH0.7)

Thing is in BF2, while those sounds are nice, The sounds that come from the actual weapons is better. Distant sounds will sound 100 times more intense than anything the Dev team makes loop over it. Trust me, I know, I edited my vanilla bf2 with a few distant gun sounds, and sound radius changes, and It sounded awesome, especially with the super loud high radius grenade explosions. Bigger dust plooms help too :)

well do the devs have any plans on adding the increased distance for all sounds? would really like to get an answer to this. although if I'm not mistaking it was slightly increased in 2.1 but I still think it needs more.

El Alamein already has distant artillery fire sound and the flash caused by it in the horizon. So the possibilities to have something similar in other maps aswell.

Agreed on this. IRL, you can hear a tank from far, far away, maybe a mile or more. Hell, even the sound of jeeps travels far. I'd love to be able to hear an epic battle going on on the other side of the map. Would add to the rush of combat to know that there's hard fought battles being fought across the map.

exactly, it really makes the game seem more realistic and would improve the game tremendously, and the tanks ought to srike more fear into infantry, therefore the sound distance must be longer.
