I'm confused as to how artillery works on this engine. I was under the impression that the 45* angle was optimum for distance, and all others fall short. Yet for this game, the higher you aim, the farther the shell goes. Is there any way to model realistic arcs for projectiles? Why?

  • Realistic. It's just sloppy of dice to forget such a basic concept.
  • More Arc = Reliable Artillery. The point of parabolic range is that there's the benefit of shooting over mountains and other large obsticles. Rather than having a straight shot at * < 45, > 45 angles allow greater range for any geography, as well as hitting tops of armor rather than the front

Contraindications: Artillery more powerful than predicted.

Don´t really care much about the arc.

However some stationary artillery guns need their shells to drop more. Because otherwise you can´t do indirect fire...

If the artillery shells go faster the higher you aim, even beyond 45 degrees, it's not artillery that's wrong, it's the physics of the game.

mmm... pie

On some maps the arty is totally buggered. Especially emplaced arty. Is fires too straight, and hits a mountain or the sandbags infront of it before it will hit the requested target. The other thing that bothers me is the use of 105mm howies in cap point bases. What the hell are they there for? Replace them with AT guns ffs. Put them in the main base as batteries.

If the arc is too high, you will not be able to fire them far enough. Too low, and you won't be able to get over obstacles. You could maybe have the projectile angle and speed different on each map, so they are the most useful where they are. But, that might bother people because they could never really get used to the feel of it, because they all work differently.

Please tell me shells don't do that.

He means when you're in a Wespe and get in the Arty spot, someone else gets into the driver spot and tries to used the Wespe like a tank.
