i was thinking about how realisticly artillery is portrayed in FH. and i kindof came up with this idea, not only to make a more realistic feel to artillery pieces, but encourage it. how about creating a kit called "Artillery Crew". This kit contains, a pistol, maybe a knife, up to you, binoculars, and a shell. what i mean by shell is that, mayebe using the expack hand animations, model a shell to be in his hands. the shell, when dropped in proiximity (very very close) to the cannon, will replenish the artillery ammo. i will explain this in a moment. it will be like an ammo box, but only containing one shell, and will disappear when used up. the arty crewman should carry an infinite amount of these. or at least 50. i know placed objects in game can do this, because action bf had droppable ammo packs and health packs, i think, and unmanned tanks repair while on repair bays. the point of all this is that the artillery crewmen would have to use binoculars if they chose too. get out, select the "shell weapon" in their kit, "load" a shell into the cannon, and then would be able to fire again. i figure this process would replace the loading times on the artillery guns already. and if there were more than one crewman, one could load while another one aims, and another one could spot too. i don't know i thought it would be pretty cool. BTW, is FH looking for a possible researcher, concept artist?
It could work, and encouraging teamwork (loader=more RoF) is nice on the guns. I dunno about how often you could get that much teamwork together. And hopping out each time to reload your gun sounds slightly funny. All and all sounds slightly awkward (and if there's any ammo giving vehicles, you'd just have to park it nearby to shortcut the system).
Sounds like something, people won't play as.
not bad as idea... realistic, but no one will bother to be an arty man... belive me.. you get more points repairing an artyllery than being the artyman... hope you can slightly modifie your idea.. to make it playable...

thats why i think the fh devs should make it so the artillery guns only recieve ammo from the shells. i also figure that the artillery crew kit would be a pick-up kit located near most guns. for soldier equipment, the soldier model could have a pair of binocs hung around his neck.
I would say artillery needs more encouragement, not discouragement. But we appreciate the complex thought patterns. Please except this copy of our home game.
If you're going to make an artillery kit, just make it a spawnable mortar like they have now.
This doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Sure, IRL if you wanted your gun loaded, there was a guy for that, but that dosen't mean we need that in the game. Soldiers got hungry, but that doesn't mean we need class who runs around handing out rations.
This is a creative idea and I like it, but if every idea that is creative was put into the mod, the game would be unplayable.;)
Aye, its a really cool idea, but I dont think it would work well in FH2.
Sounds as very good idea to me, and very realistic, but I think that every soldier with one empty weapon space should be able to pic up the shell.
Canned BreadSoldiers got hungry, but that doesn't mean we need class who runs around handing out rations.
But it would add more realism.;)
