I do, of course preface this whole suggestion with, "I don't know if this is possible but..." What if, in addition to working as it currently does, artillery could call in it's own, 'dummy spots' Basically it would allow artillery to call it's own spot anywhere on the map, however the dummy spots would only show buildings and terrain. It would not show any players or equipment that might be there. I think it is realistic in that artillery would have had reasonably good maps and could put artillery down just about anywhere, they just don't know what they are hitting without a spotter. Dummy spots would recreate this situation. It would make artillery much more useful on maps where it is needed, especially on push maps. Not sure if this has ever been suggested before. If it has, I expect to be appropriately flamed for it. If not, whattya think?

I like the idea, it does add to the realism.

It would be cool if the player could call out a postion on the map. The Person on Artillery then could selcet that zone on the map to be hit. It then would randomly hit that surrounding area. The only thing diffrent form the current BF2 version is that they would not be able to see what is there they would just have to trust other players eyes that they hit something.

I like how PRMM did it, a commander cannot put arty down unless a squad leader requests it, and only on that spot, that way you can actually defend against it.

Any weapon that is as powerful as arty should require teamwork. Nothing is more lame than a rambo don't-need-any-one-else big ass gun.

Examples: King Tiger, AH-1Z, ect... lots of low brow behavior happens around these items.

Having just witnessed the most sorry-ass episode of panzer whore score camping on a round of Bulge this evening, I agree 100% with Frederf on this one.

Indeed teamwork FTW! Only question is how you'd balance it, especially KT etc.

Sometimes they didnt have a direct spot. They just pounded enemy territory.

YES! Even better if only the radio man could call it in.

@Frederf: Yep! Dunno how it will be in FH2 but in FH the artillery is not really that powerfull.
