I think we should make it an auto lock on for the artillery. Or make some system so it is easier to hit your target on the other side of the map. This way when people with binoculars can actually count on getting help. + this would incurage people to use the artillery spotted thing Maby Auto lock on would be to easy, but at least we should make the system a bit easier to use

On maps like Karelia Arti is really useful and easy to use. Almost a noobweapon :) No need for autolocking.

Imagine auto locking on a public server, topped off with the usual smacktard or two.

Spawnkill heaven.

Not a very good idea, but is artillery that hard to use anyway? if you miss first time (which is not a lot) then all you do is just calibrate and compensate. It's a bit of a guessing game at times but it's not the hardest thing in the game.

Yeah no need to touch arty. Karelia can turn into quite sad arty fragfest :/ People just should call more for artillery spots for it to be more effective.

i'd rather see calibrated dials. a bit of rough estimating and you'd use the grids on the minimap for distance reference. easier, more rewarding, and more realistic (at least the way i see it)

Artillery is easy enough already.

What I would like to see is more, better and different artillery guns and batteries.

Binoculars could be included for more classes too. Seeing that assaul already has a pistol, while sniper and officer are lacking those, I don't think giving assault class binoculars would shake the realism to any direction.

Well arty can be effective on some maps (maybe even too effective) most of the time the reverse is true. The biggest issue is that there is now no reward for the spotter, other then destruction of a enemy that rarely gets killed (because the arty is not good enough, tress get in the way, etc.). Possiblities to fixing this incuding having one arty strike or score sharing- i dunno pretty iffy.

One thing that might work out better is including the distance coordinate in addition to range. In rl arty people got a range coordiante, so this would make arty a little more effective on the maps its not doing so well.

In compenesation arty shells could be made more a little more innaccurate so when you fire on the range and distance cordinates it would hit a little in either direction, like a area effect.

Arty is devastating as it is. With pixel spotting, it's the uber weapon. Couple that with a few actual spotters and it's even more devastating. I know because i actually pixel shoot myself on most maps.

For example: Nordwind. The 4-howitzer battery is such an overkill... and you get 2 of them. Last night i was playing with my clanmates: two of us on both batteries, and others running as spotters. The axis never capped a base.

Arty is too easy to use for it's devastating power. All it needs is teamwork and someone that knows what they are doing.

Adding auto aiming, or, as was suggested before, auto spotting will make it too easy for any noob to use without teamwork.

I like the idea of callibrated dials though. That's much more realistic, so you can judge by distance on the map

I would like to see a more realistic aiming thingy for the arty as well.. but i disagree with the autolock thing, its easy to use as it is. just hide somewere, zero your shots into the enemy spawn.. ownage :p
