actually they did a lot of para-drops, and the army swept in later. The soviets used lend-lease dc-3s among other planes. So really it would be possible to do a pretty balanced map, sort of a kharov outskirts/crete/city map, with soviet parachutists dukeing it out against japanese infantry and armor. Then, once they cap some spawns some soviet armor could spawn back at the air-base and drive into the city, where armor is more vunerable to infantry (i.e is2 on berlin). In any case, a lot the russian eqipment was older stuff they had left over there during the war, as they did not totally re-eqipe before invading. One inresting thing to point out was that this invasion was actually in viloation of a russian soviet peace agreement made in 1941. This was why the japanese never invaded russia during babarossa, and why russia did not fight japan with the US. The last time they (japan and russia) fought seriosuly was in the summer of 1939. In fact, the reason the soviets were late invading their side of poland, was because they were waiting for the tanks to arrive from fighting in manchuria. article on manchura 45 http://www.airpower.maxwell.af.mil/airchronicles/bookrev/glantz.html

Actually the Soviets also had alot of BT-7's in the Manchurian invasion. Im sure somewhere there were T-34's and BT's mixing it up with Ho-Ni's amd Chi Ha's.
