Axis lose this map too much.
It was fine in .60, about a 50/50 win ratio. Now the allies win nearly every game I've seen. They got a bunch of longbarreled ultra tanks that don't need to use strategy, AND they have 300% better positions. Not to mention that the Tiger STILL can't kill anything with one hit.. Shermans, looking at you. KT is dead in 1 hit from the M36 or 2 from the Jumbo, which is pretty dumb considering that the Tiger I can't kill a Sherman from the front.
Remove the Jumbo and make the M36 a M10 again. Then it might be back to the normal way it should be.
It is not because that the map is unbalanced, its because the axis don't mobilize as fast as the allies. At the beginning of the map, all allied points except the windmill and south outpost has a tank; the south outpost has a howitzer. The Axis needs more tanks, It was Battle of the Bulge, not Battle for 5th Vith. The solution? Remove all tanks outside of the Allied main base; achieve the total suprise caused by the germans instead of having psychic powers and putting tanks where you know axis tanks will roll through.
I've hardly ever seen the allies win in .65...
The map is fine, I've seen the Allies lose more often than axis. Weren't the M10's replaced by then by M36's and Hellcats?
I kind of agree. I think the ticket loss should stop once the windmill has been captured. The Germans could do with a few more tickets too.
Germans have lost every time I've played, and when I'm on allies, we rape them to death and beat their corpses with sacks of oranges. Better positions and all-around better armor, plus lots of stationary guns, means Axis get raped. They usually get out of the base real fast and get the windmill flag, but getting over the bridge is nearly impossible.
The map was designed around Allies having shitty tanks. Now they have good ones, and it throws everything out of balance.
Often the Windmill is captured within minutes, and then the bunker position on the same side of the river is conquered, or the other way around. Either way, the Axis always captures the east side of the river. But as soon as someone dares to park one of the Tiger tanks next to a flag, the other side is quickly lost. This will result in a moral boost, and the rest of the team greatly backs him up, even if the Tiger is lost, the flag still gets captured. Usually the other flag is captured before the city flag. Then it's time to pick off the Allies on the hill base. I have to admit though, the Allies do get a lot of extra Shermans, especially near the city, where one can easily park it on top of the arty hill, and hit every tank at it's top, forming an easy kill.
i think that the map can go either way, i admit it seemed a tad more balanced in the earlier versions but it is still winnable by the axis, it just takes teamwork(which of course u dont find on a pubby)
Whenever I play, everyone who loads in first hops on axis, grabs the ubertanks, and take the flag across the river before autoswitch/decent people move onto the allied side. It ends up a rape because the choke point advantage is gone.
Ohioan They usually get out of the base real fast and get the windmill flag, but getting over the bridge is nearly impossible.
I've seen it go both ways. To take that spot across the river you have to come from the city though - then it's easy.
