we should be able to take off and put on the bayonets, and while they're are off, they can function as knives. Why do i think this should happen? because to avoid friendly casualties, if you just move say, your garand around, while around other friendlies, you could easily kill them, resulting in a minus score Also, can we have a "Fix bayonets" radio command, that'd be really cool:naughty:

that would be pritty cool. also, for a short period of time you would have more stamina after fixing your bayonet, to simulate enthusiasm? no, that would be abused. oh well, i still say there should be a seperate animation for fixing bayonets.

but not all of them can be used as knives, take the triangular bayonet of the mosin nagant, useless as a slashing weapon. and some bayonets are so long they can nearly be used as swords.

That won't happen because you don't run up to someone and start mvoing your mouse around quickly. The bayonet will have an attack button.

That is just silly, the bayonets wont do damage unless you click the attack button.

That said, knives should have a very slow rof, high attack, but would have to be precisely aimed to prevent abuse.

I kind of think knives should have a fairly high rate of fire (though not as high as FH1's) but a fairly low attack power. I mean, one slash of a knife isn't likely going to kill anyone instantly unless you hit them really good in the neck, but even then that probably won't kill them instantly. If you stab the enemy then that should be more effective than slashing. Maybe two stabs to the stomach for a kill from full health, or one to the chest/head for an instant kill?

It should have diffrent damage ratios depending where you hit them, yes.

Yeah, the rof should be slower. Personally i dont see a slash cutting trough combat gear, so i dont think it should do much damage.. unless you hit the neck area. A secondairy attack should be stabbitystab, it should be even slower, but do more damage to the torso.

That said, the .7 situation needs to be avoided, people should not take out their knife in normal combat situations, riflebutting and bayonetting should be way more common.

Yes, but I don't think making the knives really good was preventable in FH .7 in terms of close quarters combat, considering the fact that riflebutting and bayonets weren't in FH (minus the unusable one on the Arisaka).

Sure it was preventable, by leaving it the way it was. Then again, we were all like 'awesome" when the devs said they were making knives more effective.. the horror of .7 was unforseeable.. We better stop talking about it, it makes Lobo sad.

Fixing and unfixing is already planned (see information thread on bayonets). As far as stabbing and running into people with your bayonet attach, it would be great if you could mouse click to "stab" but also injure people if you run into somebody with your bayonet attach without needing to "stab" . Though they where looking into that too. Would be realistic and punish people from running around like a headless chicken trouggh friendly lines with an attached bayonet.
