bizness;4113703Haha, I learned to not trust some spots. On Alam I received a spot and lined up but noticed I was aimed really low. I thought about it and then fired a round and it blew up some 50 meters in front of me. I switched to the overhead view and I see a friendly stuka taking off. Someone spotted our own airfield and I was dumb enough to shoot at it. Good thing it missed everyone ;)
That's (one reason) why it would be good to have the spots appear on the map as commander arty requests as well. Not only could commander then use them, but the artillery guys could see where the spot approximately is.
But back to topic: What's the current name tag delay? Could it be made instant and/or get brighter faster?
TKing is the thing that bugs me the most in the mod right now, people are so used to the old BF2 that they shoot everything that moves, and always when you are on a roll or have a perfect aim you get that bullet/shell up the a**.
And sometimes the minimap doesnt help you, when a flag is being overrun and its crawling with the enemy you always have the change that if you fire a HE round in the base you get a TK...and in some distance the figure changes from a colored one to a black figure,so if you nail it with a HE round without watching the minimap it could be a friendly...But i am getting sick of constantly watching the minimap if its a friendly or not, watching the map can cost you precious time and if your base is under heavy attack you aint got a second to spare....
As a red orchestra player I find it a little too easy to identify people as it is because the bright name tag pops up at close range. You just learn to identify tanks and uniforms and use common sense in combat.
I didn't make it!
I wish all these people that can tell friend from foe would teach others. Or play the game because you are not on the servers I am on. I am tked constantly. Yes it is the being tked not me tking that is the problem. I have no problem telling friend from foe 95% of the time. I have a problem when I know it is a friendly tank behind the flag you are approaching and the guys shoots me dead. Or I am heading into a flag to cap it and a friendly shoots me in the back. There are certain situations where I can almost guarantee you will be tked or team wounded. I know what you are gonna say. Don't do those things. The problem is these are things that need to be done. Such as approach an enemy flag from the flank or rear. You will be shot at by friendlies every time.
Yes there is friendly fire in real war but it is keep to a minimum with months if not years of training and a discipline that turns a man into a robot that only does what he is told. You will never get this in a game. Real soldiers train for years to fight for real. Gamers shouldn't have to to play a war sim.
BulletToothTony, you have the answer to the tricky question in your post...you play nice, you think twice and then shoot, playing in a slower, reflexive pace, so you don't TK no matter the lack of nametags. The other dudes don't, they just play BF2 crazy style, so it's not the mod fault, it's those players fault.
The solution: they really must start to play like you or be banned, like in any good server must happen, if a dude is TKing non stop he needs holidays
I like it the way things are. Just check out some servers and player stats I find less servers these days with players having a big minus score so that's good. (not like in the first week where half of the players had minus scores so to speak)
Slightly cooler than a n00b

All I can think of from reading this thread and threads like it is why oh why hasn't Dice figured out we need another very important Internet filter in their Battlefield series of games. This would end this conundrum and send us each our separate ways. I can't imagine it being much of a stretch to put out a patch to cover all their in-game server browsers past, present and future. Instead we have to rely on 3rd party server browsers to give our two classes of players a choice. Without the filter you are expected to click on each and every server one by one until you find the friendly fire toggle set to 0. Annoying. The questions based on frustration raise their ugly head everytime a reality based mod comes out where every bullet at any distance will kill you even if shot in the toe. I have no problem with this...I love this...because it enables me to kill at incredibly retarded distances without the enemy even hearing the shot. “When I was 19, I did a guy in Laos with a rifle shot at a thousand yards in high wind. Maybe eight or even 10 guys in the world could have made that shot. It's the only thing I was ever good at...”. It is the only thing I am good at. Much like Sgt. York and Riggs combined I just pick off squads of turkey dots running across the flat desert from the back of the line forward. I love it and there's no way they could ever implement anything the way it is now to fix the problem. All I'm shooting at is a 6 pixel stick figure on an ever increasing high resolution monitor. Tags won’t help at that distance nor would fluorescent hunting hats and vests. What will help the trigger-happy is 3rd party server browsers like qtracker. It will solve all your friendly fire needs by lifting the burden of closely studying your targets. You shoot first and ask questions later. Questions like, “Why didn’t that guy drop?” will be left to you and you alone. Well at least the question doesn’t have to ruin another person’s night no matter how silly it sounds to some. You can play amongst trigger-happy friends instead of the hard lined reality fanatics that protect these forums with teeth and claws. Personally…I’m waiting and hoping for a server side fix that would bring back my favorite filter of all. The filter us arcade kill happy pilots have all come to know and love from countless popular and successful mods in the old 1942 game. The great and powerful “Allow Nose Cam” filter that I have used for many years in The All Seeing Eye while deciding which Friendly Fire = 0 server I felt like whoring on that night. Some of my fondest memories stem from the early days of filling the enemy barn in Kharkov with explosive packs and detonating them over and over again while standing next to a supply box taking zero splash damage and completely clearing off entire EA run adminless 64 player servers achieving average scores of over 300 kills and no deaths. So I guess I just answered my own question from above which makes this post kinda pointless. Bring back the whoring please. I want to fire into a crowd of players pixel shooting from the other side of the map with the anti-aircraft gun and kill only my foes. :-P
