I wonder what engine you could by for 3000$.:p Such smoke shoudl be perfectly doable on any engine since it hasn't got anything realy special, just nice texture. Ofcourse the way how it's curving or how layers are set might not be possible to set on mod base.

Yes thats what i mean, smoke is not a big thing but EA;s engine in BF2 seeems to cause alot of trouble with this type of thing.

Depend wich smoke effect you're talking about. There are quite few different looking once in game, some with textures while others seem to have only one color. All volumetric so players might experience performance hit.

FrederfXWWII had some nice smoke effects for BF1942, especially for destroyed tanks.

I always thought those were fugly. They looked like cartoon graphics... (Great mod though :D)

They were cartoonish kinda.. but they were big and bold. Ironically they used photoreal textures for smoke and stuff.
