can someone PLEASE explain to me what the NFORCE 2 Motherboard is actually good for? besides having the Northbridge and southbridge chips( what are they for? )

My main questions.... 1. Does it Increase performance of the AMD chip thats slapped on it? 2. Does it increase performance of an Nvidia Card if you have one installed? 3. Any further details that you know off hand? please and thanks peace

1. It performs better then both VIA and AMD solutions for the K7 series processor and it is more stable. 2. This doesn't matter. I run an ATI card in my system with an nForce2 400 chipset just fine. 3. The nForce series has many technical improvements over older chipsets. Some of the highlights: 3a. HyperTransport Bus Interconnect between north and south bridge which operates at 800MB/s. 3b. Dual-Channel Memory offers double the memory bandwidth with compatible memory. 3c. Internal routing mechanism which can syncronize important transactions with the processor. 3d. AGP/PCI lock for those of you who like to overclock. This feature is not included on many VIA or AMD chipset based boards.

Hope this helps!
