Today, I hit a D3A1 Val with a 5 inch coastal gun on wake, and it didn't damage it. Earlier today I hit a Junkers Ju 52 with the main gun of a Matilda II and nothing happened. Is there a reason why tanks ect. do so little damage to planes? =[ How about giving such things some realistic damage characteristics?
perhaps you didn't hit. :D Note that hit-effect hit-detection is on the CLIENT-side, and damage hit-detection is on the SERVER.
if it was stationary targets: i've had such freak shots too, although i can't remember with what against what.
I've blown up planes/bombers with a single tank/arty/defgun shell many times. You need to account for the net latency (aka. your ping/lag). All "visual" hits (puffs of smoke, blood, debris, and yes even explosions of your shell) are client-side only! Client-side hits means squat, nada, zero, zilch, nothing. It's the server-side hits that count, and those are displayed with the crosshair flashing feedback (those diagonal lines).
Any cannon can (or should) be able to take out almost any plane in one shot if you hit it. I have shot down a grasshopper with a Panzer 4 but that is no great feat cuz they fly so slow and usually low. On vanilla i shot down a very high flying B17 with a Wespe and took it out in one shot but it had already released its bombs and as the debris was falling right infornt of me the bombs landed right on me and the pilot called me a hacker for the rest of the match.
The T34 happens to be my AA weapon of choice.
So in SP debree mean ntn becuase it only says u hit it????
No in SP there is no lag. If there's debris then you hit is.
So in MP lag causes u to hit but doesnt 'registered"
Yeah. And that's all part of the crappy Bf1942 net code. Alot of bullets seem to just dissapear.
Just like the charges on MJ.
