One of the most frustrating things in FH and vanilla 42 is the distance between all the CF´s that are spread around the whole map. I mean walking or driving a tank for 3h to get to the next CF and getting bombed or bazooked on ur halfway over there is not very satisfying. I hope centralization of capture flags will be given focuse on the new FH2 maps. it would also add more massive combat between and next to the CF´s. A good example is BF2 and BFV.

Flag distance is primarly a concern of the map designers. I spoke out about this late last month in the mapping forum about keeping combat quick, and travel limited except when in reference to balancing.

I don't see any problem in current FH, it's fine. Ever played DoD? Frustrating to get all flags? Atleast I want big maps as possible, not tiny all flags in almost same place.

If u dont see any current "problem" in FH that could be improved then ur blind. I didnt say all flags should be centralized on the same place, like a bunch of circled flags in the middle of the map. but the capture flags(except homebases) should have pretty much the same distance from CF to CF and have good balance between them to promote fast mobilty and larger fights. the new sprint mode will also add a little to that. If I havnt made myself understood try out BF2 wich has larger maps but still suceeds to keep a good balance between flags.

No way, unless it's an infantry map i love spread out flags. It makes it more of a battlefield. In RL, you wouldn't be hoping between flags, you would be most likely stationed at one location. You, as a lone soldier will also have no impact on whats happening on the other side of the battlefield, and at the same time, you will be constantly dependant on the success of your team on that "other side", cause if they fall, the enemy forces will come to you from that direction. One of my all time favourite maps are Adak Island and the Philipines, because of the spread out nature of the flags. It really makes you feel that you are part of the battlefield, cause you are just a lone soldier on one side, and not being responsible for the whole map. Couple of CPs together is good for some intense fighting, but there should always be CPs that are out of your reach, to make it feel more global

So in other words u dont like the way the flags are balanced in BF2 ? because that is pretty much what I tried to describe. I also like the feeling of being lost on the huge battlefields(wich is on of the reasons I play BF/FH) and sneaking up behind the enemy without always have to face him upfront. But its frustrating on some FH maps (others are very well balanced) having to walk litterally 15min to a CF to then get killed by a sneaky bastard or get bombarded by a passing plane. btw have u read my sec. post above urs ?

Reminds me of the common complain of WWIIOnline... I walk 30 minutes only to be shot by some sniper. The answer? Don't walk! Get your teammates together, grab a ride, form a plan that isn't you alone walking for 5 minutes. Take the safe road, get airsupport!

The walk just makes you want to get killed less. with close flags it is a frag fest because it doesn't matter if you die. Anytime people are spawning in the action is poor for gameplay and realism. It needs to take more then a 3 min walk to reach an objective. A 3 min truck ride is okay. The action shouldn't be instant on most maps, there should be thought and planning.

That might work in clanbased combat but u if spend more then half of ur time (like myself) playing on public servers u rarly experience any teamwork. Half of the smacktards dont now what conquest mode is and the other half is running around the homebase, teamkilling u to get the jet. So u end up playing lonewolf most of the time(if not playing with ur clanmates) and trying to capture the flags almost all by urself, either that or ur team losses. Ok I was exagerating a little but u get my point.

The location of the flags should not be dictated by anything other than historical location.

Flags should be where combat took place in real life. The DICE maps were usually sofar off from historical fact they might as well have been fictional.

Since FH2 will not have any premade WW2 era maps to start with all the maps can be made to be historically correct.

This does not apply to fictional maps but IIRC the vast majority of maps were based on real battles.
