I was just hoping a little tweak which would help a lot. As you know there are three different positions for your guy to be: standing, crouching and proning. While standing or crouching the camera is positioned according to the head pretty correctly. However when proning whe camera is actually somewhere around your waist :uhm: . This is because the camera goes in all three steps down the same vertical line. This means that if I'm proning and hiding in bushes my head and torso are sticking clearly out, but I myself aren't seeing much as the bush blocks my camera. Is it possible to move the camera where the head actually is while proning. This would make ambushing a lot easier :) . If you don't understand what I mean, go to Gold, prone and crawl in a bush and position yourself so that you are in your opinion both, seeing well ahead and covered by the bushes. Now press F11 to see how poorly your guy is actually hidden.

Now I am no expert, but if the camera were to be moved forward so that it was positioned correctly with the face, wouldn't it enable you to see through walls? Seeing how in 1st person you are right in front of the wall but your face is on the other side in reality.

This can't be fixed for the reason Marcituchi stated, you could look through walls. The problem is a bigger one, it has to do with one of the solider collision models. (Same problem that makes diving to the ground to prevent getting cut to pieces by a planes wing completely useless)

Ok but is then possible to move the soldier backwards while going to prone so that the head would move back to where the camera and collision detector is? This way you couldn't see through walls... I hope you understand my point...

It's a great suggestion, it has bothered me terribly since vanilla. But I think it's tough to fix, could swallow up a great deal of time. So maybe we could use it better for other fixes. We'll just have to trade that sniper kit for an assualt kit.

If we'd move the soldier back, you could hide nearly the whole body in a building wall. Not good either. The problem is that the collision model of a soldier that stops you from walking through a wall doesn't change at all when you change your stance, that's why you can't crouch into a small opening like a window, too.

or crouch through a small hole under a wooden fence (wall). :( When i first started to map backgardens i thought that it would be cool to let the soldiers crawl under a wooden fence, unfortunately that doesn't work :(.

Its not only a problem for snipers, when using the bren on gold beach i always "hide" in bushes.. now i never got shot alot doing that. but knowing im not hidden well at all is disturbing. same goes for when you are peeking around an object while prone. Sucky dice
