I have this war diary at home where the author put articles and pictures from newspapers next to his written adventures.

On one of the pictures there's Fallschirmjaeger visible, landing on Crete. The subscription says: "German Fallschirmjaeger descending with their black parachutes on Crete." The chutes do look darkish on the picture.

Does anyone know if the parachutes were black indeed during this invasion and if yes, should the ingame color of the chutes change as well?

Camo: Parachute%20RZ20-16.jpg White: Parachute%20RZ16-1.jpg Both German parachutes according to the website.

The pack and parachute are otherwise very similar to the RZ16, however the parachute canopy was camouflaged green & brown and the shroud lines were field-gray. The RZ20 was introduced in 1940 and saw service till the end of the war.

About the camouflaged parachute. So there where 2 types of parachutes :)

So both were used in Crete? If that's the case, I guess the devs will stick with the white ones.

Yep, both were used. Perhaps they should make it so normal infy use white, and SL uses camo :P But that's for later, normandy is more important.

Bad idea. Especially when squadleaders pick the SL-kits they are easy to identify due to the keffiyeh or sun helmet. Usually I make those my first target. If you give em a different colored chute, we can even identify them from miles away sitting in the bofors making an SL-killfest. For every dead soldier you'll get a cigarette, for every dead SL a bottle of wine. Let the slaughter begin.

Yeah, but its the only way that you can give the proper rareness, considering there's only 2 kits that have paradrop for the map, as I recall.

Or you could do camo for the infantry and white for the pick up pilot kits.

Hm. The engine obviously randomizes which player model you get when spawning. Couldn't ctz or some other code-god transfer this to, let's say, parachutes?

it doesn't randomize the playermodels. for british for example, the engineer kit always is the guy with the hat. the rifleman with the helmet
