Maybe this is more of a real feel thing, but oh well...

The average GI did not carry around a radio that he could use to call for stuff that he needed. Only officers, some NCOs, and scouts had a radio set, and most often only a short one miler walkie talkie. Id like to see this stuff put in sometime. Probably not popular, but meh.

Officers and Scouts only get radios. The F-whatever buttons that use radios are somehow removed and replaced with shouts or handsignals. To call in air support, you could use smoke grenades.

Vehicles get radios. The officer and scout has to be able to talk to someone, so make it so that only tanks, recon cars, planes, and ships have radios. Some GPs should be equipped with them as well.

Radio "vehicles" Make the larger, 5 miler radios a static vehicle that you enter, and once in it, you can use all the radio calls you want.

Make officer and scout radios effective only within one mile. On a small infantry map this wont matter, but on Breakthrough where its quite large, it sure as hell will.

When making radio calls with binoculars, show the grid co-ordinates of what you are aiming at next to the message. Help the pilots find what needs to die.

Most of this shit will probably need an SDK, but i had to suggest this at least once.

i know, artillery and air support won the war in the west after all...

but a GI Joe with an M1 Garand is not gonna lug around a radio all over the place.

I think that implementing the majority of those features will kill the last remaining bit of teamwork that exists in this mod. How often do you find someone willing to give and/or listen to radio commmands?

These guys are few and far between, and changing the radio system like you suggest will make it virtually impossible to communicate with them as a team. What is left is Rambo anarchy, and I, along with many other people will no longer play it.

'[11PzG USMA2010'] but a GI Joe with an M1 Garand is not gonna lug around a radio all over the place.

He doesn't have to. Why would the average grunt need a radio? Average grunts travel in groups, and one guy tells them what to do, so they don't need any info other than that gained by their eyeballs. Roughly 1 guy in 10 needs a radio for a RL army to work. Average grunts don't need to know firsthand which side of the village is most lightly defended, or if armor is waiting in ambush. It's the officer's job to get this info and decide what to do about it. Which is why that suggestion wouldn't work: there are no average grunts in FH, we are all officers. We do what we please, when we please. We each make our own decisions, and therefore need info. Average grunts don't make decisions, and only need simple info from a nearby source (Lt. Whoever) I would be perfectly happy to do away with radio commands if I knew, that every time I joined a server, somebody would tell me what to do and I didn't have to think for myself. :D
